Iqāmah (إقامة)

Standing for the Salat/Prayers

فَانْطَلَقَا حَتَّىٰ إِذَا أَتَيَا أَهْلَ قَرْيَةٍ اسْتَطْعَمَا أَهْلَهَا فَأَبَوْا أَنْ يُضَيِّفُوهُمَا فَوَجَدَا فِيهَا جِدَارًا يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَنْقَضَّ فَأَقَامَهُ ۖ قَالَ لَوْ شِئْتَ لَاتَّخَذْتَ عَلَيْهِ أَجْرًا {77}

So, they went on until when they came to the people of a town. They asked its people for food, but they refused to host them. Then they found a wall therein about to break down, so he ‘فَأَقَامَهُ’ straightened it. He (Musa) said, ‘If you so desire, you could take a recompense upon it’ [18:77]

Mohammed ibn Yahya has narrated from Mohammed ibn al-Hussain from Mohammed ibn ‘lsma’il, who from Salih ibn ‘Uqbah, who from abu Harun al-Makfuf, who has said the following:

‘Abu ‘Abd Allah-asws has said: ‘O Abu Harun, ‘lqamah is part of Salat. When you say it do not speak or point with your hands.[1]
