Muslim (مسلم, مُسْلِمَيْنِ)

The Submitter(s)

رَبَّنَا وَاجْعَلْنَا مُسْلِمَيْنِ لَكَ وَمِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِنَا أُمَّةً مُسْلِمَةً لَكَ وَأَرِنَا مَنَاسِكَنَا وَتُبْ عَلَيْنَا ۖ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ {128}

Our Lord! And Make us both ‘مُسْلِمَيْنِ’ submissive to You, and from our offspring a community submitting to You, and Show us our rituals and Turn to us, surely You are the Oft-turning, the Merciful [2:128]

فِي مَجْمَعِ الْبَيَانِ وَ رَوَى عَنِ الصَّادِقِ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ‏ أَنَّ الْمُرَادَ بِالْأُمَّةِ بَنُو هَاشِمٍ خَاص

In Majma Al-Bayan, it is reported from Al-Sadiq^-asws that the intended purpose with the ‘community’ (in Verse 128) is the Clan of Hashim^-as in particular’.^[1]
