Ash-Shu'ara

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

26:2

تِلْكَ ءَايَـٰتُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ ٱلْمُبِينِ

Tilka Aayaatul Kitaabil Mubeen

These are the Verses of the Clarifying Book

Tafseer · verses 1–103
26:3

لَعَلَّكَ بَـٰخِعٌ نَّفْسَكَ أَلَّا يَكُونُوا۟ مُؤْمِنِينَ

La'allaka baakhi'un nafsaka allaa yakoonoo mu'mineen

Perhaps you (Prophet) are burdening yourself with grief because they are not becoming Momineen

26:4

إِن نَّشَأْ نُنَزِّلْ عَلَيْهِم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ ءَايَةً فَظَلَّتْ أَعْنَـٰقُهُمْ لَهَا خَـٰضِعِينَ

In nashaa nunazzil 'alaihim minas samaaa'i Aayatan fazallat a'naaquhum lahaa khaazi'een

If We Desired to, We would Send down upon them a Sign from the sky, so their necks would be humbled to it

26:5

وَمَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن ذِكْرٍ مِّنَ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ مُحْدَثٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ عَنْهُ مُعْرِضِينَ

Wa maa yaateehim min zikrim minar Rahmaani muhdasin illaa kaanoo 'anhu mu'rideen

And there does not come to them from the Beneficent any new (merit about the) Zikr, except they are turning aside from it

26:6

فَقَدْ كَذَّبُوا۟ فَسَيَأْتِيهِمْ أَنۢبَـٰٓؤُا۟ مَا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ

Faqad kazzaboo fasa yaateehim ambaaa'u maa kaanoo bihee yastahzi'oon

But, they have belied, therefore there would be coming to them News of what they had been mocking with

26:7

أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ إِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ كَمْ أَنۢبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوْجٍ كَرِيمٍ

Awa lam yaraw ilal ardi kam ambatnaa feehaa min kulli zawjin kareem

Or do they not look at the earth, how many of every noble kind of pairs We have Grown therein?

إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

Inna fee zaalika la Aayah; wa maa kaana aksaruhum mu'mineen

Surely, there is a Sign in that, but most of them are not (from) Momineen

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

Wa inna Rabbaka la Huwal 'Azeezur Raheem

And surely your Lord, He is the Mighty, the Merciful

وَإِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبُّكَ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنِ ٱئْتِ ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ

Wa iz naadaa Rabbuka Moosaaa ani'-til qawmaz zaalimeen

And when your Lord Called out to Musa: “Go to the unjust people!

قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ ۚ أَلَا يَتَّقُونَ

Qawma Fir'awn; alaa yattaqoon

The people of Pharaoh, are they not fearing?”

قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ أَن يُكَذِّبُونِ

Qaala Rabbi inneee akhaafu ai yukazziboon

He said: ‘My Lord! I fear that they would belie me

26:13

وَيَضِيقُ صَدْرِى وَلَا يَنطَلِقُ لِسَانِى فَأَرْسِلْ إِلَىٰ هَـٰرُونَ

Wa yadeequ sadree wa laa yantaliqu lisaanee fa arsil ilaa Haaroon

And my chest is straitened, and my tongue is not eloquent, therefore Send for Haroun (for support)

وَلَهُمْ عَلَىَّ ذَنۢبٌ فَأَخَافُ أَن يَقْتُلُونِ

Wa lahum 'alaiya zambun fa akhaafu ai yaqtuloon

And for them is an offence upon me, therefore I fear they would kill me’

قَالَ كَلَّا ۖ فَٱذْهَبَا بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآ ۖ إِنَّا مَعَكُم مُّسْتَمِعُونَ

Qaala kallaa fazhabaa bi Aayaatinaaa innaa ma'akum mustami'oon

He said: “Never! So, both of you go with Our Signs; surely, We are with you, Hearing

فَأْتِيَا فِرْعَوْنَ فَقُولَآ إِنَّا رَسُولُ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

Faatiyaa Fir'awna faqoolaaa innaa Rasoolu Rabbil 'aalameen

So go to Pharaoh and say: ‘We are the Rasools of the Lord of the Worlds

أَنْ أَرْسِلْ مَعَنَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ

An arsil ma'anaa Baneee Israaa'eel

Then send with us the Children of Israel’

26:18

قَالَ أَلَمْ نُرَبِّكَ فِينَا وَلِيدًا وَلَبِثْتَ فِينَا مِنْ عُمُرِكَ سِنِينَ

Qaala alam nurabbika feenaa waleedanw wa labista feenaa min 'umurika sineen

(Pharaoh) said: ‘Did we not nourish you among us as a child, and you remained among us from your life-time, (many) years?

وَفَعَلْتَ فَعْلَتَكَ ٱلَّتِى فَعَلْتَ وَأَنتَ مِنَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ

Wa fa'alta fa'latakal latee fa'alta wa anta minal kaafireen

And you did that deed of yours which you did, and you are from the ungrateful ones’

قَالَ فَعَلْتُهَآ إِذًا وَأَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ

Qaala fa'altuhaaa izanw wa ana minad zaaaleen

(Prophet Musa) He said: ‘I did it then when I was from the straying ones

فَفَرَرْتُ مِنكُمْ لَمَّا خِفْتُكُمْ فَوَهَبَ لِى رَبِّى حُكْمًا وَجَعَلَنِى مِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ

Fafarartu minkum lam maa khiftukum fawahaba lee Rabbee hukmanw wa ja'alanee minal mursaleen

(Prophet Musa) So, I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord Granted me Wisdom and Made me to be from the Rasools

26:22

وَتِلْكَ نِعْمَةٌ تَمُنُّهَا عَلَىَّ أَنْ عَبَّدتَّ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ

Wa tilka ni'matun tamun nuhaa 'alaiya an 'abbatta Baneee Israaa'eel

And that is a favour which you are reproaching me upon although you have enslaved the children of Israel?’

قَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَا رَبُّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

Qaala Fir'awnu wa maa Rabbul 'aalameen

Pharaoh said, ‘And what is the ‘Lord of the Worlds’?’

قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ ۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ

Qaala Rabbus samaawaati wal ardi wa maa bainahumaa in kuntum mooqineen

He (Musa) said: ‘Lord of the skies and the earth and what is between the two, if you would be certain’

قَالَ لِمَنْ حَوْلَهُۥٓ أَلَا تَسْتَمِعُونَ

Qaala liman hawlahooo alaa tastami'oon

He (Pharaoh) said to those around him, Are you all not listening?

قَالَ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ

Qaala Rabbukum wa Rabbu aabaaa'ikumul awwaleen

He (Pharaoh) said: ‘Your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers, the former ones!’

قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَكُمُ ٱلَّذِىٓ أُرْسِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ لَمَجْنُونٌ

Qaala inna Rasoolakumul lazee ursila ilaikum lamajnoon

He (Pharaoh) said, ‘The Rasool who is Sent to you is insane’

قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلْمَشْرِقِ وَٱلْمَغْرِبِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ ۖ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ

Qaala Rabbul mashriqi wal maghribi wa maa baina humaa in kuntum ta'qiloon

He (Musa) said: ‘Lord of the east and the west and what is between the two, if you would use your intellect’

قَالَ لَئِنِ ٱتَّخَذْتَ إِلَـٰهًا غَيْرِى لَأَجْعَلَنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلْمَسْجُونِينَ

Qaala la'init takhazta ilaahan ghairee la aj'alannaka minal masjooneen

(Pharaoh) said, ‘If you were to take a god apart from me, I will make you to be from the prisoners’

قَالَ أَوَلَوْ جِئْتُكَ بِشَىْءٍ مُّبِينٍ

Qaala awalaw ji'tuka bishai'im mubeen

He (Musa) said: ‘Or shall I come to you with something clearer?’

قَالَ فَأْتِ بِهِۦٓ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ

Qaala faati biheee in kunta minas saadiqeen

(Pharaoh) Said, ‘Come with it then, if you are of the truthful ones’

فَأَلْقَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِىَ ثُعْبَانٌ مُّبِينٌ

Fa alqaa 'asaahu fa izaaa hiya su'baanum mubeen

So, he cast his staff, and behold, it was a clear serpent

وَنَزَعَ يَدَهُۥ فَإِذَا هِىَ بَيْضَآءُ لِلنَّـٰظِرِينَ

Wa naza'a yadahoo faizaa hiya baidaaa'u linnaa zireen

And he drew forth his hand, and behold, it was (shining) white to the onlookers

قَالَ لِلْمَلَإِ حَوْلَهُۥٓ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَسَـٰحِرٌ عَلِيمٌ

Qaala lilmala-i hawlahooo inna haazaa lasaahirun 'aleem

He (Pharaoh) said to the chiefs around him, ‘Surely, this one is a very knowledgeable sorcerer

يُرِيدُ أَن يُخْرِجَكُم مِّنْ أَرْضِكُم بِسِحْرِهِۦ فَمَاذَا تَأْمُرُونَ

Yureedu ai yukhrijakum min ardikum bisihrihee famaazaa taamuroon

Intending to throw you out from your land by his sorcery, so what is that you are instructing?’

قَالُوٓا۟ أَرْجِهْ وَأَخَاهُ وَٱبْعَثْ فِى ٱلْمَدَآئِنِ حَـٰشِرِينَ

Qaalooo arjih wa akhaahu wab'as filmadaaa'ini haashireen

They said, ‘Stall him and his brother and send collectors into the cities

يَأْتُوكَ بِكُلِّ سَحَّارٍ عَلِيمٍ

Yaatooka bikulli sah haarin 'aleem

They should come to you with every knowledgeable sorcerer

فَجُمِعَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ لِمِيقَـٰتِ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ

Fa jumi'as saharatu limeeqaati Yawmim ma'loom

So, the magicians were gathered for an appointment on a known day

وَقِيلَ لِلنَّاسِ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّجْتَمِعُونَ

Wa qeela linnaasi hal antum mujtami'oon

And it was said to the people, ‘Can you gather together

لَعَلَّنَا نَتَّبِعُ ٱلسَّحَرَةَ إِن كَانُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبِينَ

La'allanaa nattabi'us saharata in kaanoo humul ghaalibeen

Perhaps we may follow the magicians, if they would be the winners

فَلَمَّا جَآءَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ قَالُوا۟ لِفِرْعَوْنَ أَئِنَّ لَنَا لَأَجْرًا إِن كُنَّا نَحْنُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبِينَ

Falammaa jaaa'as saharatu qaaloo li Fir'awna a'inna lanaa la ajjran in kunnaa nahnul ghaalibeen

So, when the magicians came, they said to Pharaoh, Will we get a reward if we were the winners?’

قَالَ نَعَمْ وَإِنَّكُمْ إِذًا لَّمِنَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ

Qaala na'am wa innakum izal laminal muqarrabeen

He said, ‘Yes, and you will then be from the ones of proximity’

قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَىٰٓ أَلْقُوا۟ مَآ أَنتُم مُّلْقُونَ

Qaala lahum Moosaaa alqoo maaa antum mulqoon

Musa said to them: ‘Cast whatever you would be casting!’

فَأَلْقَوْا۟ حِبَالَهُمْ وَعِصِيَّهُمْ وَقَالُوا۟ بِعِزَّةِ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبُونَ

Fa alqaw hibaalahum wa 'isiyyahum wa qaaloo bi'izzati Fir'awna innaa lanahnul ghaaliboon

So, they cast down their ropes and their sticks and said, ‘By the Might of Pharaoh, surely for us would be the overcoming!’

فَأَلْقَىٰ مُوسَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِىَ تَلْقَفُ مَا يَأْفِكُونَ

Fa alqaa Moosaa 'asaahu fa izaa hiya talqafu maa yaafikoon

Then Musa cast down his staff and it swallowed up what they were faking

فَأُلْقِىَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ سَـٰجِدِينَ

Fa ulqiyas saharatu saajideen

And the magicians fell down in Sajdah (to Allah)

قَالُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا بِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

Qaalooo aamannaa bi Rabbil 'aalameen

They said, ‘We believe in the Lord of the Worlds!

26:49

قَالَ ءَامَنتُمْ لَهُۥ قَبْلَ أَنْ ءَاذَنَ لَكُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ لَكَبِيرُكُمُ ٱلَّذِى عَلَّمَكُمُ ٱلسِّحْرَ فَلَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ ۚ لَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَيْدِيَكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُم مِّنْ خِلَـٰفٍ وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ

Qaala aamantum lahoo qabla an aazana lakum innahoo lakabeerukumul lazee 'alla makumus sihra falasawfa ta'lamoon; la uqatti'anna aidiyakum wa arjulakum min khilaafinw wa la usallibanna kum ajma'een

(Pharaoh) said, ‘You are believing in him before I gave the permission for you? He is your elder who taught you the magic, so you shall soon be knowing, for I will cut-off your hands and your legs on opposite sides, and I will crucify you all’

قَالُوا۟ لَا ضَيْرَ ۖ إِنَّآ إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا مُنقَلِبُونَ

Qaaloo la daira innaaa ilaa Rabbinaa munqalliboon

They said, ‘No harm! We are returning to our Lord

إِنَّا نَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لَنَا رَبُّنَا خَطَـٰيَـٰنَآ أَن كُنَّآ أَوَّلَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

Innaa natma'u ai yaghfira lanaa Rabbunaa khataa yaanaaa an kunnaaa awwalal mu'mineen

We hope that our Lord will Forgive our mistakes for us, as we have become the first of the Momineen’

26:52

۞ وَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنْ أَسْرِ بِعِبَادِىٓ إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ

Wa awhainaaa ilaa Moosaaa an asri bi'ibaadeee innakum muttaba'oon

And We Revealed unto Musa, saying: “Travel secretly with My servants. You will be pursued”

فَأَرْسَلَ فِرْعَوْنُ فِى ٱلْمَدَآئِنِ حَـٰشِرِينَ

Fa arsala Fir'awnu filmadaaa'ini haashireen

So, Pharaoh sent collectors (servants) into the cities

إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَشِرْذِمَةٌ قَلِيلُونَ

Inna haaa'ulaaa'i lashir zimatun qaleeloon

(Pharaoh Saying), ‘They are a small group

وَإِنَّهُمْ لَنَا لَغَآئِظُونَ

Wa innahum lanaa laghaaa'izoon

(Pharaoh Saying), And they have enraged us

وَإِنَّا لَجَمِيعٌ حَـٰذِرُونَ

Wa innaa lajamee'un haaziroon

(Pharaoh Saying), And we are all forewarned’

فَأَخْرَجْنَـٰهُم مِّن جَنَّـٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ

Fa akhrajnaahum min Jannaatinw wa 'uyoon

But (instead), We Turned them out from gardens and springs (which Pharaoh had created)

وَكُنُوزٍ وَمَقَامٍ كَرِيمٍ

Wa kunoozinw wa ma qaamin kareem

And treasures and honourable places (which Pharaoh had created)

كَذَٰلِكَ وَأَوْرَثْنَـٰهَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ

Kazaalika wa awrasnaahaa Baneee Israaa'eel

(Allaj is Saying) Like that We Made the Children of Israel to inherit these

فَأَتْبَعُوهُم مُّشْرِقِينَ

Fa atba'oohum mushriqeen

They (army of Pharaoh) pursued them at daylight

فَلَمَّا تَرَٰٓءَا ٱلْجَمْعَانِ قَالَ أَصْحَـٰبُ مُوسَىٰٓ إِنَّا لَمُدْرَكُونَ

Falammaa taraaa'al jam'aani qaala as haabu Moosaaa innaa lamudrakoon

(Allah-azwj is Describing) When the two groups saw each other, the companions of Musa said, ‘We are being overtaken’

قَالَ كَلَّآ ۖ إِنَّ مَعِىَ رَبِّى سَيَهْدِينِ

Qaala kallaaa inna ma'iya Rabbee sa yahdee

He (Musa-as) said: ‘Never! Surely, My Lord is with me. He will be Guiding me

26:63

فَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنِ ٱضْرِب بِّعَصَاكَ ٱلْبَحْرَ ۖ فَٱنفَلَقَ فَكَانَ كُلُّ فِرْقٍ كَٱلطَّوْدِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ

Fa awhainaaa ilaa Moosaaa anidrib bi'asaakal bahra fanfalaqa fakaana kullu firqin kattawdil 'azeem

We (Allah-azwj) Revealed unto Musa: “Strike the sea with your staff!” So, it parted, and each part was like a huge mountain

وَأَزْلَفْنَا ثَمَّ ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ

Wa azlafnaa sammal aakhareen

And We (Allah-azwj) Brought the others (Pharaoh-la ) near to it

وَأَنجَيْنَا مُوسَىٰ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ

Wa anjainaa Moosaa wa mam ma'ahooo ajma'een

And We (Allah-azwj) Saved Musa and all those who were with him

ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ

Summa aghraqnal aakhareen

Then We Drowned the others

إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

Inna fee zaalika la Aayaah; wa maa kaana aksaru hu mu'mineen

Most surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them are not Believers

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

Wa inna Rabbaka la Huwal 'Azeezur Raheem

And most surely, your Lord, He is the Mighty, the Merciful

وَٱتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ

Watlu 'alaihim naba-a Ibraaheem

And recite to them the news of (Profit) Ibrahim

إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِۦ مَا تَعْبُدُونَ

Iz qaala li abeehi wa qawmihee maa ta'budoon

When he (Ibrahim-as) said to his (step) father (uncle) and his people: ‘What are you worshipping?’

قَالُوا۟ نَعْبُدُ أَصْنَامًا فَنَظَلُّ لَهَا عَـٰكِفِينَ

Qaaloo na'budu asnaaman fanazallu lahaa 'aakifeen

They said, ‘We worship idols, then remain devoted to these’

قَالَ هَلْ يَسْمَعُونَكُمْ إِذْ تَدْعُونَ

Qaala hal yasma'oona kum iz tad'oon

He (Ibrahim) said: ‘Are they listening to you when you are supplicating?

أَوْ يَنفَعُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَضُرُّونَ

Aw yanfa'oonakum aw yadurroon

Or are they benefitting you or harming you?

قَالُوا۟ بَلْ وَجَدْنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا كَذَٰلِكَ يَفْعَلُونَ

Qaaloo bal wajadnaaa aabaaa 'anaa kazaalika yaf'aloon

They said, ‘But, we found our forefathers doing like that’

قَالَ أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا كُنتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ

Qaala afara 'aitum maa kuntum ta'budoon

He said: ‘Have you then considered what you have been worshipping?

Fa innahum 'aduwwwul leee illaa Rabbal 'aalameen

Allazee khalaqanee fa Huwa yahdeen

The One Who Created me, so He Guides me

Wallazee Huwa yut'imunee wa yasqeen

And the One Who Feeds me and Quenches me

Wa izaa maridtu fahuwa yashfeen

And when I am sick, He Heals me

Wallazee yumeetunee summa yuhyeen

And the One Who will Cause me to die, then Revive me

وَٱلَّذِىٓ أَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لِى خَطِيٓـَٔتِى يَوْمَ ٱلدِّينِ

Wallazeee atma'u ai yaghfira lee khateee' atee Yawmad Deen

And the One Who, I hope, will Forgive my mistakes for me on the Day of Judgement

رَبِّ هَبْ لِى حُكْمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِى بِٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ

Rabbi hab lee hukmanw wa alhiqnee bis saaliheen

Lord! Endow to me wisdom, and join me with the righteous ones

وَٱجْعَل لِّى لِسَانَ صِدْقٍ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ

Waj'al lee lisaana sidqin fil aakhireen

And Make for me a truthful tongue among the latter ones

وَٱجْعَلْنِى مِن وَرَثَةِ جَنَّةِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ

Waj'alnee minw warasati Jannnatin Na'eem

And Make me to be from the inheritors of the Blissful Garden

وَٱغْفِرْ لِأَبِىٓ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ

Waghfir li abeee innahoo kaana mind zaalleen

And Forgive my (foster) father (uncle), for he was from the straying ones

وَلَا تُخْزِنِى يَوْمَ يُبْعَثُونَ

Wa laa tukhzinee Yawma yub'asoon

And do not Disgrace on the Day they would be Resurrected

يَوْمَ لَا يَنفَعُ مَالٌ وَلَا بَنُونَ

Yawma laa yanfa'u maalunw wa laa banoon

On a Day neither wealth nor sons would be of (any) benefit

إِلَّا مَنْ أَتَى ٱللَّهَ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ

Illaa man atal laaha biqalbin saleem

Except one who comes to Allah with an unblemished (sound) heart

وَأُزْلِفَتِ ٱلْجَنَّةُ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ

Wa uzlifatil Jannatu lilmuttaqeen

And the Paradise will be brought near for the pious

وَبُرِّزَتِ ٱلْجَحِيمُ لِلْغَاوِينَ

Wa burrizatil Jaheemu lilghaaween

And the Blazing Fire will emerge for the straying ones

وَقِيلَ لَهُمْ أَيْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ

Wa qeela lahum aina maa kuntum ta'budoon

And it shall be said to them: ‘Where are those whom you had been worshipping

مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ هَلْ يَنصُرُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَنتَصِرُونَ

Min doonil laahi hal yansuroonakum aw yantasiroon

Besides Allah? Can they help you or even help themselves?’

فَكُبْكِبُوا۟ فِيهَا هُمْ وَٱلْغَاوُۥنَ

Fakubkiboo feehaa hum walghaawoon

So, they would be flung into it (Fire), they and the straying ones

وَجُنُودُ إِبْلِيسَ أَجْمَعُونَ

Wa junoodu Ibleesa ajma'oon

And armies of Iblee(s) altogether

قَالُوا۟ وَهُمْ فِيهَا يَخْتَصِمُونَ

Qaaloo wa hum feehaa yakkhtasimoon

They would be saying while they quarrel therein,

تَٱللَّهِ إِن كُنَّا لَفِى ضَلَـٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ

Tallaahi in kunnaa lafee dalaalim mubeen

‘By Allah! We were in clear error,

إِذْ نُسَوِّيكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

Iz nusawweekum bi Rabbil 'aalameen

When we equated you all with Lord of the Worlds

وَمَآ أَضَلَّنَآ إِلَّا ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ

Wa maaa adallanaaa illal mujrimoon

And none strayed us except the criminals (their leaders)

فَمَا لَنَا مِن شَـٰفِعِينَ

Famaa lanaa min shaa fi'een

So, there is none for us from the intercessors

وَلَا صَدِيقٍ حَمِيمٍ

Wa laa sadeeqin hameem

Nor a (Sadeeq) sincere/trustworthy friend

فَلَوْ أَنَّ لَنَا كَرَّةً فَنَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

Falaw anna lanaa karratan fanakoona minal mu'mineen

If only there was one more return (to the world) for us, we would be from the Momineen

Surely, in that there is a Sign, but most of them were not from the Momineen

إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ

Innee lakum Rasoolun ameen

I am a trustworthy Rasool to you

Wa maaa as'alukum 'alaihi min ajrin in ajriya illaa 'alaa Rabbil 'aalameen

And I do not ask you for any recompense over it. My Recompense is only upon Lord of the Worlds

He said: ‘And what is my knowledge of what they have been doing?

In hisaabuhum illaa 'alaa Rabbee law tash'uroon

وَمَآ أَنَا۠ بِطَارِدِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

Wa maaa ana bitaaridil mu'mineen

And I am not going to drive away the Momineen

Qaaloo la'il lam tantahi yaa Noohu latakoonanna minal marjoomeen

They said, ‘If you don’t stop it, O Noah, you will happen to be from the ones stoned (to death)!’

قَالَ رَبِّ إِنَّ قَوْمِى كَذَّبُونِ

Qaala Rabbi inna qawmee kazzaboon

He said: ‘My Lord! Surely, my people are belying me

فَٱفْتَحْ بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَهُمْ فَتْحًا وَنَجِّنِى وَمَن مَّعِىَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

Faftab bainee wa bai nahum fat hanw wa najjinee wa mam ma'iya minal mu'mineen

So, You Issue a Verdict between me and them with a Verdict, and Deliver me and those who are with me from the Momineen!’

فَأَنجَيْنَـٰهُ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥ فِى ٱلْفُلْكِ ٱلْمَشْحُونِ

Fa anjainaahu wa mamma'ahoo fil fulkil mashhoon

So, We Delivered him and ones with him in the laden ship

Summa aghraqnaa ba'dul baaqeen

Then, We Drowned the remainder afterwards

Atabnoona bikulli ree'in aayatan ta'basoon

Are you building a sign on every elevation, (but you are only) amusing yourselves

وَتَتَّخِذُونَ مَصَانِعَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَخْلُدُونَ

Wa tattakhizoona masaani'a la'allakum takhludoon

And you are taking to strongholds, (thinking) perhaps you will be living eternally?

وَإِذَا بَطَشْتُم بَطَشْتُمْ جَبَّارِينَ

Wa izaa batashtum batashtum jabbaareen

And when you seize, you seize as tyrants

Fattaqul laaha wa atee'oon

أَمَدَّكُم بِأَنْعَـٰمٍ وَبَنِينَ

Amaddakum bi an'aa minw wa baneen

Extending to you with the cattle and sons

قَالُوا۟ سَوَآءٌ عَلَيْنَآ أَوَعَظْتَ أَمْ لَمْ تَكُن مِّنَ ٱلْوَٰعِظِينَ

Qaaloo sawaaa'un 'alainaaa awa 'azta am lam takum minal waa'izeen

They said, ‘It is the same to us whether you preach to us or do not happen to be from the preachers

In haazaaa illaa khuluqul awwaleen

Surely, this is only a custom of the former ones

Wa maa nahnu bimu 'azzabeen

And would not be Punished ones’

Fakazzaboohu fa ahlaknaahum; inna fee zaalika la aayah; wa maa kaana aksaruhum mu'mineen

Thus, they belied him, so We Destroyed them. Surely, in that there is a Sign, and most of them were not from Momineen

Atutrakoona fee maa haahunnaaa aamineen

Will you be left secure in what is over here?

وَزُرُوعٍ وَنَخْلٍ طَلْعُهَا هَضِيمٌ

Wa zuroo inw wa nakhlin tal 'uhaa hazeem

And plantations and heavy laden palm-trees?

وَتَنْحِتُونَ مِنَ ٱلْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا فَـٰرِهِينَ

Wa tanhitoona minal jibaali buyootan faariheen

And you are carving out houses out of the mountains, skilfully

فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ

Fattaqul laaha wa atee'oon

Therefore, fear Allah and obey me

وَلَا تُطِيعُوٓا۟ أَمْرَ ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ

Wa laa tutee'ooo amral musrifeen

And do not obey the instructions of the extravagant

ٱلَّذِينَ يُفْسِدُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَا يُصْلِحُونَ

Allazeena yufsidoona fil ardi wa laa yuslihoon

Those who are corrupting in the land and are not correcting’

قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَحَّرِينَ

Qaalooo innamaa anta minal musahhareen

They said, ‘But rather, you are from the bewitched ones!’

مَآ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا فَأْتِ بِـَٔايَةٍ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ

Maaa anta illaa basharum mislunaa faati bi Aayatin in kunta minas saadiqeen

You are not except a person like us, therefore come with a Sign if you were from the truthful ones

قَالَ هَـٰذِهِۦ نَاقَةٌ لَّهَا شِرْبٌ وَلَكُمْ شِرْبُ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ

Qaala haazihee naaqatul lahaa shirbunw walakum shirbu yawmim ma'loom

He said: ‘This here is a she-camel. For her should be to drink and for you should be to drink on a known day

وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوٓءٍ فَيَأْخُذَكُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ

Wa laa tamassoohaa bisooo'in fa yaakhuzakum 'azaabu Yawmin 'Azeem

And do not touch her with evil, for the Punishment of a Grievous Day would Seize you

فَعَقَرُوهَا فَأَصْبَحُوا۟ نَـٰدِمِينَ

Fa'aqaroohaa fa asbahoo naadimeen

But they hamstrung her, then they became regretful

فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

Fa akhazahumul 'azaab; inna fee zaalika la Aayah; wa maa kaana aksaruhum mu'mineen

So, the Punishment Seized them. Surely, in that there is a Sign, and most of them were not Momineen

You are (the one ones) coming to the males, from the (people of the) worlds

26:166

وَتَذَرُونَ مَا خَلَقَ لَكُمْ رَبُّكُم مِّنْ أَزْوَٰجِكُم ۚ بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٌ عَادُونَ

Wa tazaroona maa khalaqa lakum Rabbukum min azwaajikum; bal antum qawmun 'aadoon

And you are leaving what your Lord has Created for you from your wives. But, you are a transgressing people’

قَالُوا۟ لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهِ يَـٰلُوطُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْمُخْرَجِينَ

Qaloo la'il lam tantahi yaa Lootu latakoonanna minal mukhrajeen

They said, ‘If you don’t stop it, O Lut! You happen to be from the expelled ones’

قَالَ إِنِّى لِعَمَلِكُم مِّنَ ٱلْقَالِينَ

Qaala innee li'amalikum minal qaaleen

He said: ‘I am from those who detest your deeds

رَبِّ نَجِّنِى وَأَهْلِى مِمَّا يَعْمَلُونَ

Rabbi najjjinee wa ahlee mimmmaa ya'maloon

Lord! Deliver me and my family from what they are doing!’

فَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ

Fanajjainaahu wa ahlahooo ajma'een

So, We Delivered him and his family altogether

إِلَّا عَجُوزًا فِى ٱلْغَـٰبِرِينَ

Illaa 'ajoozan filghaabireen

Except for an old woman, to be among those who remained behind

ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ

Summa dammarnal aa khareen

Then We Destroyed the others

وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِم مَّطَرًا ۖ فَسَآءَ مَطَرُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ

Wa amtarnaa 'alaihim mataran fasaaa'a matarul munzareen

And We Rained down upon them a rain, and evil was the rain upon the warned ones

إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

Inna fee zaalika la Aayah; wa maa kaana aksaruhum mu'mineen

Surely, in that there is a Sign, and most of them were not Momineen

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

Wa inna Rabbaka la Huwal 'Azeezur Raheem

And surely your Lord, He is the Mighty, the Merciful

كَذَّبَ أَصْحَـٰبُ لْـَٔيْكَةِ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ

Kazzaba As haabul Aykatil mursaleen

The dwellers of the thicket belied the Rasools

إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ شُعَيْبٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ

Iz qaala lahum Shu'aybun alaa tattaqoon

When Shuayb said to them: ‘Will you not fear?’

إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ

Innee lakum Rasoolun ameen

I am a trustworthy Rasool to you

فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ

Fattaqul laaha wa atee'oon

Therefore, fear Allah and obey me

وَمَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

Wa maaa as'alukum 'alaihi min ajrin in ajriya illaa 'alaa Rabbil 'aalameen

And I do not ask you for any Recompense over it. My Recompense is only upon Lord of the Worlds

۞ أَوْفُوا۟ ٱلْكَيْلَ وَلَا تَكُونُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلْمُخْسِرِينَ

Awful kaila wa laa takoonoo minal mukhsireen

Fulfil the measure and do not become from the losers

وَزِنُوا۟ بِٱلْقِسْطَاسِ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمِ

Wa zinoo bilqistaasil mustaqeem

And weigh equitably with a fair scale

وَلَا تَبْخَسُوا۟ ٱلنَّاسَ أَشْيَآءَهُمْ وَلَا تَعْثَوْا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مُفْسِدِينَ

Wa laa tabkhasun naasa ashyaaa 'ahum wa laa ta'saw fil arzi mufsideen

And do not wrong the people of their things, and do not spread disturbance in the land, making mischief

وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكُمْ وَٱلْجِبِلَّةَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ

Wattaqul lazee khalaqakum waljibillatal awwaleen

And fear the One Who Created you and the former generations’

قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَحَّرِينَ

Qaalooo innamaa anta minal musahhareen

They said, ‘But rather, you are from the bewitched ones

وَمَآ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا وَإِن نَّظُنُّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلْكَـٰذِبِينَ

Wa maaa anta illaa basharum mislunaa wa innazunnuka laminal kaazibeen

And you are not except a person like us, and that we think you are from the liars

فَأَسْقِطْ عَلَيْنَا كِسَفًا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ

Fa asqit 'alainaa kisafam minas samaaa'i in kunta minas saadiqeen

So, drop a piece of the sky upon us, if you were one from the truthful ones!’

قَالَ رَبِّىٓ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ

Qaala Rabbeee a'lamu bimaa ta'maloon

He said: ‘My Lord is more Knowing with what you are doing

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَخَذَهُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمِ ٱلظُّلَّةِ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ

Fakazzaboohu fa akhazahum 'azaabu Yawmiz zullah; innahoo kaana 'azaaba Yawmin 'Azeem

But they belied him, so the Punishment of the Day of shadows Seized them; it was a Punishment of a grievous Day

إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

Inna fee zaalika la Aayah; wa maa kaana aksaruhum mu'mineen

Surely, in that there is a Sign, and most of them were not Momineen

Wa inna Rabbaka la huwal 'Azeezur Raheem

And surely your Lord, He is the Mighty, the Merciful

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَنزِيلُ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

Wa innahoo latanzeelu Rabbil 'aalameen

And surely it is a Revelation from Lord of the Worlds

نَزَلَ بِهِ ٱلرُّوحُ ٱلْأَمِينُ

Nazala bihir Roohul Ameen

The Trustworthy Spirit descended with it

عَلَىٰ قَلْبِكَ لِتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُنذِرِينَ

Alaa qalbika litakoona minal munzireen

Upon your heart for you to become from the warners

بِلِسَانٍ عَرَبِىٍّ مُّبِينٍ

Bilisaanin 'Arabiyyim mubeen

In clear Arabic language

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَفِى زُبُرِ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ

Wa innahoo lafee Zuburil awwaleen

And surely it is in the Scriptures of the former ones

أَوَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُمْ ءَايَةً أَن يَعْلَمَهُۥ عُلَمَـٰٓؤُا۟ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ

Awalam yakul lahum Aayatan ai ya'lamahoo 'ulamaaa'u Baneee Israaa'eel

Or does it not happen to be a Sign for them that the scholars of the Children of Israel knew of it

وَلَوْ نَزَّلْنَـٰهُ عَلَىٰ بَعْضِ ٱلْأَعْجَمِينَ

Wa law nazzalnaahu 'alaa ba'dil a'jameen

And had We Revealed it unto one of the non-Arabs

فَقَرَأَهُۥ عَلَيْهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ مُؤْمِنِينَ

Faqara ahoo 'alaihim maa kaanoo bihee mu'mineen

So, he would have recited it to them, they would not have been believers in it

كَذَٰلِكَ سَلَكْنَـٰهُ فِى قُلُوبِ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ

Kazaalika salaknaahu fee quloobil mujrimeen

Like that, We Inserted it into the hearts of the criminals

لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِۦ حَتَّىٰ يَرَوُا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَلِيمَ

Laa yu'minoona bihee hattaa yarawul 'azaabal aleem

They will not believe in it until they see the painful Punishment

فَيَأْتِيَهُم بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ

Fayaatiyahum baghtatanw wa hum laa yash'uroon

And it shall come to them suddenly, and they would not be perceiving

فَيَقُولُوا۟ هَلْ نَحْنُ مُنظَرُونَ

Fa yaqooloo hal nahnu munzaroon

So, they would be saying, ‘Will we be respited?’

أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ

Afabi 'azaabinaa yasta'jiloon

Is it with Our Punishment they are hastening?

أَفَرَءَيْتَ إِن مَّتَّعْنَـٰهُمْ سِنِينَ

Afara'aita im matta'naahum sineen

Can you see, if We were to Let them enjoy for years

ثُمَّ جَآءَهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يُوعَدُونَ

Summa jaaa'ahum maa kaanoo yoo'adoon

Then there comes to them what they were threatened of

مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يُمَتَّعُونَ

Maaa aghnaaa 'anhum maa kaanoo yumatta'oon

It would not avail them what they were enjoying.

وَمَآ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَرْيَةٍ إِلَّا لَهَا مُنذِرُونَ

Wa maaa ahlaknaa min qaryatin illaa lahaa munziroon

And We did not Destroy any town except there were warners for it

ذِكْرَىٰ وَمَا كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِينَ

Zikraa wa maa kunnaa zaalimeen

Being a reminder, and We were not unjust

وَمَا تَنَزَّلَتْ بِهِ ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينُ

Wa maa tanazzalat bihish Shayaateen

And the Satans did not descend with it

وَمَا يَنۢبَغِى لَهُمْ وَمَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ

Wa maa yambaghee lahum wa maa yastatee'oon

And is it not befitting for them, and they had no capacity (for it)

إِنَّهُمْ عَنِ ٱلسَّمْعِ لَمَعْزُولُونَ

Innahum 'anis sam'i lama'zooloon

They were banished from the listening

فَلَا تَدْعُ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَـٰهًا ءَاخَرَ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُعَذَّبِينَ

Falaa tad'u ma'al laahi ilaahan aakhara fatakoona minal mu'azzabeen

Therefore, do not supplicate to another god along with Allah, for you would happen to be from the Punished ones

وَأَنذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ ٱلْأَقْرَبِينَ

Wa anzir 'asheeratakal aqrabeen

And warn your kindred, the near ones!

وَٱخْفِضْ جَنَاحَكَ لِمَنِ ٱتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

Wakhfid janaahaka limanit taba 'aka minal mu'mineen

And lower your wing (in kindness) towards the ones who follow you from the Momineen

فَإِنْ عَصَوْكَ فَقُلْ إِنِّى بَرِىٓءٌ مِّمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ

Fa in asawka faqul innee bareee'um mimmmaa ta'maloon

But if they disobey you, then say: ‘I disavow from what you are doing’

وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Wa tawakkal alal 'Azeezir Raheem

And rely upon the Mighty, the Merciful

ٱلَّذِى يَرَىٰكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ

Allazee yaraaka heena taqoom

The One Who Sees you when you stand up (for Salat)

وَتَقَلُّبَكَ فِى ٱلسَّـٰجِدِينَ

Wa taqallubaka fis saajideen

And your transfer among the Sajdah performers

إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ

Innahoo Huwas Samee'ul 'Aleem

Surely, He is the Hearing, the Knowing

هَلْ أُنَبِّئُكُمْ عَلَىٰ مَن تَنَزَّلُ ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينُ

Hal unabbi'ukum 'alaa man tanazzalush Shayaateen

Shall I inform you of the ones upon whom the Satans descend?

تَنَزَّلُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ أَفَّاكٍ أَثِيمٍ

Tanazzalu 'alaa kulli affaakin aseem

They descend upon every sinful liar

يُلْقُونَ ٱلسَّمْعَ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ كَـٰذِبُونَ

Yulqoonas sam'a wa aksaruhum kaaziboon

Inclining the hearing, and most of them are liars

وَٱلشُّعَرَآءُ يَتَّبِعُهُمُ ٱلْغَاوُۥنَ

Washshu 'araaa'u yattabi 'uhumul ghaawoon

And the poets, the deviators follow them

أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّهُمْ فِى كُلِّ وَادٍ يَهِيمُونَ

Alam tara annahum fee kulli waadiny yaheemoon

Do you not see them wandering around in every valley?

وَأَنَّهُمْ يَقُولُونَ مَا لَا يَفْعَلُونَ

Wa annahum yaqooloona ma laa yaf'aloon

And they are saying what they are not doing

إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ وَذَكَرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ كَثِيرًا وَٱنتَصَرُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا ظُلِمُوا۟ ۗ وَسَيَعْلَمُ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوٓا۟ أَىَّ مُنقَلَبٍ يَنقَلِبُونَ

Illal lazeena aamanoo wa 'amilus saalihaati wa zakarul laaha kaseeranw wantasaroo min ba'di maa zulimoo; wa saya'lamul lazeena zalamooo aiya munqalabiny yanqaliboon

Except those who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allah a lot, and defend themselves after they are oppressed. And they shall come to know, those who are being unjust, will know to what [kind of] return they will return
