Haa Meeem

Ha Meem!

وَٱلْكِتَـٰبِ ٱلْمُبِينِ

Wal Kitaabil Mubeen

(I Swear) by the Clarifying Book

إِنَّآ أَنزَلْنَـٰهُ فِى لَيْلَةٍ مُّبَـٰرَكَةٍ ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُنذِرِينَ

Innaaa anzalnaahu fee lailatim mubaarakah; innaa kunnaa munzireen

Surely, We Revealed during a Blessed Night. Surely, We are ever Warning

فِيهَا يُفْرَقُ كُلُّ أَمْرٍ حَكِيمٍ

Feehaa yufraqu kullu amrin hakeem

During it, every wise matter is made distinct

أَمْرًا مِّنْ عِندِنَآ ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُرْسِلِينَ

Amram min 'indinaaa; innaa kunnaa mursileen

As a Command from Us. Surely, We are ever Sending

رَحْمَةً مِّن رَّبِّكَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ

Rahmatam mir rabbik; innahoo Huwas Samee'ul 'Aleem

Being a Mercy from your Lord, surely He is the Hearing, the Knowing

رَبِّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ ۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ

Rabbis samaawaati wal ardi wa maa bainahumaa; in kuntum mooqineen

Lord of the skies and the earth and what is between them, if you were certain

لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ يُحْىِۦ وَيُمِيتُ ۖ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ

Laaa ilaaha illaa Huwa yuhyee wa yumeetu Rabbukum wa Rabbu aabaaa'ikumul awwaleen

There is no god except Him. He Revives and Causes to die. Your Lord, and Lord of your fathers, the former ones

بَلْ هُمْ فِى شَكٍّ يَلْعَبُونَ

Bal hum fee shakkiny yal'aboon

But, they are playing around in doubt

فَٱرْتَقِبْ يَوْمَ تَأْتِى ٱلسَّمَآءُ بِدُخَانٍ مُّبِينٍ

Fartaqib Yawma ta'tis samaaa'u bi dukhaanin mubeen

So, watch out for the day the sky would come with evident smoke

يَغْشَى ٱلنَّاسَ ۖ هَـٰذَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

Yaghshan naasa haazaa 'azaabun aleem

Overwhelming the people. (They would say), ‘This is a painful Punishment!

رَّبَّنَا ٱكْشِفْ عَنَّا ٱلْعَذَابَ إِنَّا مُؤْمِنُونَ

Rabbanak shif 'annal 'azaaba innaa mu'minoon

Our Lord! Remove the Punishment from us, we are (from) Momineen!’

أَنَّىٰ لَهُمُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ وَقَدْ جَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ مُّبِينٌ

Annaa lahumuz zikraa wa qad jaaa'ahum Rasoolum mubeen

How can there be the Zikr for them and a clarifying Rasool had already come to them

ثُمَّ تَوَلَّوْا۟ عَنْهُ وَقَالُوا۟ مُعَلَّمٌ مَّجْنُونٌ

Summaa tawallaw 'anhu wa qaaloo mu'allamum majnoon

Then they turned away from him and said, ‘One taught (by others), a madman’

إِنَّا كَاشِفُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابِ قَلِيلًا ۚ إِنَّكُمْ عَآئِدُونَ

Innaa kaashiful 'azaabi qaleelaa; innakum 'aaa'idoon

We would be Removing the Punishment a little, (but) you will be returning (to evil)

يَوْمَ نَبْطِشُ ٱلْبَطْشَةَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰٓ إِنَّا مُنتَقِمُونَ

Yawma nabtishul batsha tal kubraa innaa muntaqimoon

On the Day when We will Seize (them) with a mighty Seizure, We will be Taking Revenge

۞ وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَجَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ كَرِيمٌ

Wa laqad fatannaa qablahum qawma Fir'awna wa jaaa'ahum Rasoolun kareem

And We had Tried the people of Pharaoh before them, and there came to them a noble Rasool

أَنْ أَدُّوٓا۟ إِلَىَّ عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ

An addooo ilaiya 'ibaadal laahi innee lakum Rasoolun ameen

(Saying): ‘Deliver (liberate the slaves) to me the servants of Allah, surely, I am a trustworthy Rasool to you

وَأَن لَّا تَعْلُوا۟ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّىٓ ءَاتِيكُم بِسُلْطَـٰنٍ مُّبِينٍ

Wa al laa ta'loo 'alal laahi innee aateekum bisultaanim mubeen

And surely you should not exalt yourselves against Allah. I come to you with Verse/Proof from Just King (Allah)

وَإِنِّى عُذْتُ بِرَبِّى وَرَبِّكُمْ أَن تَرْجُمُونِ

Wa innee 'uztu bi Rabbee wa rabbikum an tarjumoon

And I (Prophet Musa) take Refuge with my Lord and your Lord if you were to stone me (to death)

وَإِن لَّمْ تُؤْمِنُوا۟ لِى فَٱعْتَزِلُونِ

Wa il lam tu'minoo lee fa'taziloon

And if you do not believe in me, then leave me alone’

فَدَعَا رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ قَوْمٌ مُّجْرِمُونَ

Fada'aa rabbahooo anna haaa'ulaaa'i qawmum mujrimoon

So, he supplicated to his Lord: ‘Surely they are a criminal people’

فَأَسْرِ بِعِبَادِى لَيْلًا إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ

Fa asri bi'ibaadee lailan innakum muttaba'oon

Travel secretly with My servants. You will be pursued

وَٱتْرُكِ ٱلْبَحْرَ رَهْوًا ۖ إِنَّهُمْ جُندٌ مُّغْرَقُونَ

Watrukil bahra rahwan innahum jundum mughraqoon

And leave the sea at rest, they are an army to be drowned

كَمْ تَرَكُوا۟ مِن جَنَّـٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ

Kam tarakoo min jannaatinw wa 'uyoon

How many of the gardens and fountains they left (behind),

وَزُرُوعٍ وَمَقَامٍ كَرِيمٍ

Wa zuroo'inw wa maqaa min kareem

And plantations and noble places,

وَنَعْمَةٍ كَانُوا۟ فِيهَا فَـٰكِهِينَ

Wa na'matin kaanoo feehaa faakiheen

And bounties they used to enjoy in?

كَذَٰلِكَ ۖ وَأَوْرَثْنَـٰهَا قَوْمًا ءَاخَرِينَ

Kazaalika wa awrasnaahaa qawman aakhareen

Like that, and We Made these to be inherited by another people

فَمَا بَكَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ وَٱلْأَرْضُ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ مُنظَرِينَ

Famaa bakat 'alaihimus samaaa'u wal ardu wa maa kaanoo munzareen

So, the sky and the earth did not weep upon them, nor were they Respited

وَلَقَدْ نَجَّيْنَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ مِنَ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلْمُهِينِ

Wa laqad najjainaa Baneee Israaa'eela minal'azaabil muheen

And We had Rescued the Children of Israel from the abasing Punishment

مِن فِرْعَوْنَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَالِيًا مِّنَ ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ

Min Fir'awn; innahoo kaana 'aaliyam minal musrifeen

From Pharaoh. Surely, he was arrogant, from the transgressors

وَلَقَدِ ٱخْتَرْنَـٰهُمْ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍ عَلَى ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

Wa laqadikh tarnaahum 'alaa 'ilmin 'alal 'aalameen

And We have Chosen them (Imams) upon knowledge, over the worlds

وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُم مِّنَ ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ مَا فِيهِ بَلَـٰٓؤٌا۟ مُّبِينٌ

Wa aatainaahum minal aayaati maa feehi balaaa'um mubeen

And We gave them from the Signs wherein was clear scourge (curse)

إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَيَقُولُونَ

Inna haaa'ulaaa'i la yaqooloon

Surely, they were saying,

إِنْ هِىَ إِلَّا مَوْتَتُنَا ٱلْأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُنشَرِينَ

In hiya illaa mawtatunal oolaa wa maa nahnu bimun shareen

‘Indeed! It is only our first death, and we would not be Resurrected

فَأْتُوا۟ بِـَٔابَآئِنَآ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ

Fa'too bi aabaaa'inaaa inkuntum saadiqeen

So, come with our (deceased) forefathers, if you were truthful’

أَهُمْ خَيْرٌ أَمْ قَوْمُ تُبَّعٍ وَٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ أَهْلَكْنَـٰهُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ مُجْرِمِينَ

Ahum khayrun am qawmu Tubba'inw wallazeena min qablihim; ahlaknaahum innahum kaanoo mujrimeen

Are they better or the people of Tubba and those from before them? We Destroyed them. They were criminals

وَمَا خَلَقْنَا ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا لَـٰعِبِينَ

Wa maa khalaqnas samaawaati wal arda wa maa baina humaa laa'ibeen

And We did not Create the skies and the earth and what is between them for playing/amusement

مَا خَلَقْنَـٰهُمَآ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

Maa khalaqnaahumaaa illaa bilhaqqi wa laakinna aksarahum laa ya'lamoon

We did not Create them both (earth and skies) except with the Truth, but most of them do not know

إِنَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْفَصْلِ مِيقَـٰتُهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ

Inna yawmal fasli meeqaatuhum ajma'een

Surely, the Day of Decision is their appointment, altogether

يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِى مَوْلًى عَن مَّوْلًى شَيْـًٔا وَلَا هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ

Yawma laa yughnee mawlan 'am mawlan shai'anw wa laa hum yunsaroon

A Day, neither will a friend avail anything from a friend, nor would they be helped

إِلَّا مَن رَّحِمَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

Illaa mar rahimal laah' innahoo huwal 'azeezur raheem

Except the one Allah Mercies. Surely, He is the Mighty, the Merciful

إِنَّ شَجَرَتَ ٱلزَّقُّومِ

Inna shajarataz zaqqoom

Surely, the tree of the Zaqqum (in the Hell)

طَعَامُ ٱلْأَثِيمِ

Ta'aamul aseem

Is the food of the sinful

كَٱلْمُهْلِ يَغْلِى فِى ٱلْبُطُونِ

Kalmuhli yaghlee filbutoon

Like murky oil, it shall boil in the bellies

كَغَلْىِ ٱلْحَمِيمِ

Kaghalyil hameem

Like the boiling of scalding water

خُذُوهُ فَٱعْتِلُوهُ إِلَىٰ سَوَآءِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ

Khuzoohu fa'tiloohu ilaa sawaaa'il Jaheem

Seize him, then drag him down into the middle of the Hell

ثُمَّ صُبُّوا۟ فَوْقَ رَأْسِهِۦ مِنْ عَذَابِ ٱلْحَمِيمِ

Summa subboo fawqa ra'sihee min 'azaabil hameem

Then pour above his head of the torment of the boiling water

ذُقْ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْكَرِيمُ

Inna haazaa maa kuntum bihee tamtaroon

Taste; you were indeed the mighty, the honourable

إِنَّ هَـٰذَا مَا كُنتُم بِهِۦ تَمْتَرُونَ

Inna haazaa maa kuntum bihee tamtaroon

Surely, this is what you were doubtful of (Allah/His Signs)

إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى مَقَامٍ أَمِينٍ

Innal muttaqeena fee maqaamin ameen

Surely, the pious would be in a secure place

فِى جَنَّـٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ

Fee jannaatinw wa 'uyoon

In Gardens and Springs

يَلْبَسُونَ مِن سُندُسٍ وَإِسْتَبْرَقٍ مُّتَقَـٰبِلِينَ

Yalbasoona min sundusinw wa istabraqim mutaqaabileen

They would be wearing (garments) of fine silk and brocade, facing each other

كَذَٰلِكَ وَزَوَّجْنَـٰهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٍ

Kazaalika wa zawwajnaahum bihoorin 'een

(It would be) like that, and We shall get them married with Maiden Houries

يَدْعُونَ فِيهَا بِكُلِّ فَـٰكِهَةٍ ءَامِنِينَ

Yad'oona feehaa bikulli faakihatin aamineen

They would be calling therein for all fruits in safety

لَا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا ٱلْمَوْتَ إِلَّا ٱلْمَوْتَةَ ٱلْأُولَىٰ ۖ وَوَقَىٰهُمْ عَذَابَ ٱلْجَحِيمِ

Laa yazooqoona feehal mawtaa illal mawtatal oolaa wa waqaahum 'azaabal jaheem

They will not be tasting the death therein except for the former death (of the world), and We will Save them from the Punishment of the Blazing Fire

فَضْلًا مِّن رَّبِّكَ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ

Fadlam mir rabbik; zaalika huwal fawzul 'azeem

A Grace from your Lord. That, it is the mighty success

فَإِنَّمَا يَسَّرْنَـٰهُ بِلِسَانِكَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ

Fa innamaa yassarnaahu bilisaanika la'allahum yatazakkaroon

So rather, We have made it (Quran) easy through your tongue, perhaps they would take heed

فَٱرْتَقِبْ إِنَّهُم مُّرْتَقِبُونَ

Fartaqib innahum murta qiboon

So be watchful, they are (also) expecting/watchful
