Ha Meem

تَنزِيلُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْحَكِيمِ

Tanzeelul Kitaabi minal laahil 'Azeezil Hakeem

A Revelation of the Book from Allah, the Mighty, the Wise

إِنَّ فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ لَـَٔايَـٰتٍ لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

Innaa fis samaawaati wal ardi la Aayaatil lilmu'mineen

Surely, in the skies and the earth there are Signs for the Momineen

وَفِى خَلْقِكُمْ وَمَا يَبُثُّ مِن دَآبَّةٍ ءَايَـٰتٌ لِّقَوْمٍ يُوقِنُونَ

Wa fee khalaqikum wa maa yabussu min daaabbatin Aayaatul liqawminy-yooqinoon

And in your (own) creation, and what He Spread out from animals, there are Signs for a people who are certain

وَٱخْتِلَـٰفِ ٱلَّيْلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِ وَمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مِن رِّزْقٍ فَأَحْيَا بِهِ ٱلْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا وَتَصْرِيفِ ٱلرِّيَـٰحِ ءَايَـٰتٌ لِّقَوْمٍ يَعْقِلُونَ

Wakhtilaafil laili wannahaari wa maaa anzalal laahu minas samaaa'i mir rizqin fa ahyaa bihil arda ba'da mawtihaa wa tasreefir riyaahi Aayaatul liqawminy ya'qiloon

And the variation of the night and the day, and What sustenance Allah Sends down from the sky, so He Revives the land by it after its death, and the changing of the winds, are Signs for a people using their intellects

تِلْكَ ءَايَـٰتُ ٱللَّهِ نَتْلُوهَا عَلَيْكَ بِٱلْحَقِّ ۖ فَبِأَىِّ حَدِيثٍۭ بَعْدَ ٱللَّهِ وَءَايَـٰتِهِۦ يُؤْمِنُونَ

Tilka Aayatul laahi natloohaa 'alaika bil haqq, fabiayyi hadeesim ba'dal laahi wa Aayaatihee yu'minoon

These are the Verses (Signs) of Allah. We Recite these upon you with the Truth, so afterwards, with which Hadeeth of Allah and His Signs will you believe?

وَيْلٌ لِّكُلِّ أَفَّاكٍ أَثِيمٍ

Wailul likulli affaakin aseem

Woe is for every sinful liar

يَسْمَعُ ءَايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ يُصِرُّ مُسْتَكْبِرًا كَأَن لَّمْ يَسْمَعْهَا ۖ فَبَشِّرْهُ بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ

Yasma'u Aayaatil laahi tutlaa 'alaihi summa yusirru mustakbiran ka-al lam yasma'haa fabashshirhu bi'azaabin aleem

He hears the Verses of Allah being recited to him, then he becomes arrogant as if he had not heard these, therefore give him the news of a painful Punishment

وَإِذَا عَلِمَ مِنْ ءَايَـٰتِنَا شَيْـًٔا ٱتَّخَذَهَا هُزُوًا ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مُّهِينٌ

Wa izaa 'alima min Aayaatinaa shai' 'anit takhazahaa huzuwaa; ulaaa'ika lahum 'azaabum muheen

And when he learns anything from Our Signs (Verses), he takes it in mockery. Those, for them would be an abasing Punishment

مِّن وَرَآئِهِمْ جَهَنَّمُ ۖ وَلَا يُغْنِى عَنْهُم مَّا كَسَبُوا۟ شَيْـًٔا وَلَا مَا ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَوْلِيَآءَ ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ

Minw waraaa'ihim Jahannamu wa laa yughnee 'anhum maa kasaboo shai'anw wa laa mat takhazoo min doonil laahi awliyaaa; wa lahum 'azaabun 'azeem

(Coming up) behind them is Hell, and what they had earned would not avail them of anything, nor what they had taken as guardians from other than Allah, and for them would be a mighty Punishment

هَـٰذَا هُدًى ۖ وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِ رَبِّهِمْ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مِّن رِّجْزٍ أَلِيمٌ

Haazaa hudaa; wal lazeena kafaroo bi aayaati Rabbihim lahum 'azaabum mir rijzin 'aleem

This is Guidance, and those whom committed Kufr with the Signs of their Lord, for them would be a painful Punishment due to uncleanness (doubt)

۞ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِى سَخَّرَ لَكُمُ ٱلْبَحْرَ لِتَجْرِىَ ٱلْفُلْكُ فِيهِ بِأَمْرِهِۦ وَلِتَبْتَغُوا۟ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ

Allaahul lazee sahkhara lakumul bahra litajriyal fulku feehi bi amrihee wa litabtaghoo min fadlihee wa la'allakum tashkuroon

Allah is the One Who Subdued for you the sea in order for the ships to sail in it by His Command, and for you to seek from His Grace, and perhaps you would be grateful

وَسَخَّرَ لَكُم مَّا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا مِّنْهُ ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَـٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ

Wa sakhkhara lakum maa fis samaawaati wa maa fil ardi jamee'am minhu; inna feezaalika la Aayaatil liqawminy yatafakkaroon

And He Subdued for you (O Imam) whatever is in the skies and whatever is in the earth altogether from it. Surely, in that are Signs for a people who think

قُل لِّلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ يَغْفِرُوا۟ لِلَّذِينَ لَا يَرْجُونَ أَيَّامَ ٱللَّهِ لِيَجْزِىَ قَوْمًۢا بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ

Qul lillazeena aamanoo yaghfiroo lillazeena laa yarjoona ayyaamal laahi liyajziya qawmam bimaa kaanoo yaksiboon

Say to those who believe, to let-off those who do not hope for the days of Allah, for Him to Recompense a people due to what they had been earning

مَنْ عَمِلَ صَـٰلِحًا فَلِنَفْسِهِۦ ۖ وَمَنْ أَسَآءَ فَعَلَيْهَا ۖ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُمْ تُرْجَعُونَ

Man 'amila saalihan falinafsihee wa man asaaa'a fa'alaihaa summa ilaa Rabbikum turja'oon

One who acts righteously, so it is for himself, and one who does evil, so it would be against him, then you will be returning to your Lord

وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ وَٱلْحُكْمَ وَٱلنُّبُوَّةَ وَرَزَقْنَـٰهُم مِّنَ ٱلطَّيِّبَـٰتِ وَفَضَّلْنَـٰهُمْ عَلَى ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

Wa laqad aatainaa Baneee Israaa'eelal Kitaaba walhukma wan Nubuwwata wa razaqnaahum minat taiyibaati wa faddalnaahum;alal 'aalameen

And We had Given to the Children of Israel, the Book, and the Wisdom, and the Prophet-hood, and Sustained them from the goodly things, and Merited them over the worlds

وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُم بَيِّنَـٰتٍ مِّنَ ٱلْأَمْرِ ۖ فَمَا ٱخْتَلَفُوٓا۟ إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا جَآءَهُمُ ٱلْعِلْمُ بَغْيًۢا بَيْنَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَقْضِى بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ فِيمَا كَانُوا۟ فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ

Wa aatainaahum baiyinaatim minal amri famakh talafooo illaa mim ba'di maa jaaa'ahumul 'ilmu baghyam bainahum; inna Rabbaka yaqdee bainahum Yawmal Qiyaamati feemaa kaanoo feehi yakhtalifoon

And We gave them clear Arguments from the matter, but they did not differ except from after the knowledge had come to them in envy between them. Surely your Lord will Judge between them on the Day of Judgment regarding what they had been differing in

ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَـٰكَ عَلَىٰ شَرِيعَةٍ مِّنَ ٱلْأَمْرِ فَٱتَّبِعْهَا وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَآءَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

Summa ja'alnaaka 'alaa sharee'atim minal amri fattabi'haa wa laa tattabi'ahwaaa'al-lazeena laa ya'lamoon

Then We have Made you to be upon a Law from the Command, therefore follow it and do not follow the whims of those who do not know

إِنَّهُمْ لَن يُغْنُوا۟ عَنكَ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ شَيْـًٔا ۚ وَإِنَّ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَآءُ بَعْضٍ ۖ وَٱللَّهُ وَلِىُّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ

Innahum lany yughnoo 'anka minal laahi shai'aa; wa innaz zaalimeena ba'duhum awliyaaa'u ba'dinw wallaahu waliyyul muttaqeen

They will never avail anything from Allah about you, and surely the unjust ones are guardians of each other, and Allah is the Guardian of the pious

هَـٰذَا بَصَـٰٓئِرُ لِلنَّاسِ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةٌ لِّقَوْمٍ يُوقِنُونَ

Haazaa basaaa'iru linnaasi wa hudanw wa rahmatul liqawminy yooqinoon

This has insights for the people and is a Guidance and a Mercy for the people with conviction

أَمْ حَسِبَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱجْتَرَحُوا۟ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ أَن نَّجْعَلَهُمْ كَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ سَوَآءً مَّحْيَاهُمْ وَمَمَاتُهُمْ ۚ سَآءَ مَا يَحْكُمُونَ

Am hasibal lazeenaj tarahus saiyiaati an naj'alahum kallazeena aamanoo wa 'amilu saalihaati sawaaa'am mahyaahum wa mamaatuhum; saaa'a maa yahkumoon

Or, do those who commit the evil deeds reckon that We will Make them to be like those who believe and do righteous deeds as equal, their lives and their deaths? Evil is what they are judging

وَخَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَلِتُجْزَىٰ كُلُّ نَفْسٍۭ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ

Wa khalaqal laahus samaawaati wal arda bilhaqqi wa litujzaa kullu nafsim bimaa kasabat wa hum laa yuzlamoon

And Allah Created the skies and the earth with the Truth, and for Recompensing every soul with what it had earned, and they would not be wronged

أَفَرَءَيْتَ مَنِ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَـٰهَهُۥ هَوَىٰهُ وَأَضَلَّهُ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍ وَخَتَمَ عَلَىٰ سَمْعِهِۦ وَقَلْبِهِۦ وَجَعَلَ عَلَىٰ بَصَرِهِۦ غِشَـٰوَةً فَمَن يَهْدِيهِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ

Afara'ayta manit takhaza ilaahahoo hawaahu wa adal lahul laahu 'alaa 'ilminw wa khatama 'alaa sam'ihee wa qalbihee wa ja'ala 'alaa basarihee ghishaawatan famany yahdeehi mim ba'dil laah; afalaa tazakkaroon

So, do you see one who takes his desires as a god, and Allah Lets him stray upon knowledge and Seals upon his hearing and his heart, and Makes a covering to be upon his sight? Then who can guide him after Allah (has Denied him)? So, will you not be mindful?

وَقَالُوا۟ مَا هِىَ إِلَّا حَيَاتُنَا ٱلدُّنْيَا نَمُوتُ وَنَحْيَا وَمَا يُهْلِكُنَآ إِلَّا ٱلدَّهْرُ ۚ وَمَا لَهُم بِذَٰلِكَ مِنْ عِلْمٍ ۖ إِنْ هُمْ إِلَّا يَظُنُّونَ

Wa qaaloo maa hiya illaa hayaatunad dunyaa namootu wa nahyaa wa maa yuhlikunaaa illad dahr; wa maa lahum bizaalika min 'ilmin in hum illaayazunnoon

And they are saying, ‘It is not except our life of the world. We are dying and we live and nothing destroys us except the time’. And there is no knowledge for them with that. Surely, they are only guessing

وَإِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَـٰتُنَا بَيِّنَـٰتٍ مَّا كَانَ حُجَّتَهُمْ إِلَّآ أَن قَالُوا۟ ٱئْتُوا۟ بِـَٔابَآئِنَآ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ

Wa izaa tutlaa 'alaihim aayaatuna baiyinaatim maa kaana hujjatahum illaaa an qaalu'too bi aabaaa'inaaa in kuntum saadiqeen

And when Our clear Verses were recited to them, there was no argument for them except they said, Bring our (deceased) forefathers back if you were truthful’

قُلِ ٱللَّهُ يُحْيِيكُمْ ثُمَّ يُمِيتُكُمْ ثُمَّ يَجْمَعُكُمْ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهِ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

Qulil laahu yuhyeekum summa yumeetukum summa yajma'ukum ilaa Yawmil Qiyaamati laa raiba feehi wa laakinna aksaran naasi laa ya'lamoon

Say: ‘Allah Gives you life, then He Makes you die, then will He Gather you on the Day of Judgement, there being no doubt in it, but most of the people do not know

وَلِلَّهِ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ وَيَوْمَ تَقُومُ ٱلسَّاعَةُ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَخْسَرُ ٱلْمُبْطِلُونَ

Wa lillaahi mulkus samaawaati wal ard; wa Yawma taqoomus Saa'atu Yawma 'iziny yakhsarul mubtiloon

And for Allah is the Kingdom of the skies and the earth, and the day when the Hour would be Established, on that day the falsifiers would lose

وَتَرَىٰ كُلَّ أُمَّةٍ جَاثِيَةً ۚ كُلُّ أُمَّةٍ تُدْعَىٰٓ إِلَىٰ كِتَـٰبِهَا ٱلْيَوْمَ تُجْزَوْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

Wa taraa kulla ummatin jaasiyah; kullu ummatin tud'aaa ilaa kitaabihaa al Yawma tujzawna maa kuntum ta'maloon

And you shall see every community kneeling down. Every community would be Called to its Book: “Today you will be Recompensed for what you had been doing!”

هَـٰذَا كِتَـٰبُنَا يَنطِقُ عَلَيْكُم بِٱلْحَقِّ ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا نَسْتَنسِخُ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

Haazaa kitaabunaa yantiqu 'alaikum bilhaqq; innaa kunnaa nastansikhu maa kuntum ta'maloon

This is Our Book, speaking to you with the Truth. Surely, We would be Replicating whatever you would have done

فَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ فَيُدْخِلُهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ فِى رَحْمَتِهِۦ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْمُبِينُ

Fa ammal lazeena aamaanoo wa 'amilus saalihaati fayudkhiluhum Rabbuhum fee rahmatih; zaalika huwal fawzul mubeen

Then as for those who believe and do the righteous deeds, their Lord would Enter them into His Mercy. That, it is the clear success

وَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ أَفَلَمْ تَكُنْ ءَايَـٰتِى تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْكُمْ فَٱسْتَكْبَرْتُمْ وَكُنتُمْ قَوْمًا مُّجْرِمِينَ

Wa ammal lazeena kafarooo afalam takun Aayaatee tutlaa 'alaikum fastakbartum wa kuntum qawmam mujrimeen

And as for those who committed Kufr: “Were not My Verses recited to you? But, you became arrogant and were a criminal people!”

وَإِذَا قِيلَ إِنَّ وَعْدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقٌّ وَٱلسَّاعَةُ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهَا قُلْتُم مَّا نَدْرِى مَا ٱلسَّاعَةُ إِن نَّظُنُّ إِلَّا ظَنًّا وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُسْتَيْقِنِينَ

Wa izaa qeela inna wa'dallaahi haqqunw was Saa'atu laa raiba feehaa qultum maa nadree mas Saa'atu in nazunnu illaa zannanw wa maa nahnu bimustaiqineen

And when it was said: ‘Surely the Promise of Allah is True, and the Hour, there is no doubt in it’, you said, ‘We do not know what the Hour is. We think it is only a conjecture and we are not convinced’

وَبَدَا لَهُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتُ مَا عَمِلُوا۟ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ

Wa badaa lahum saiyiaatu maa 'amiloo wa haaqa bihim maa kaanoo bihee yastahzi'oon

And the evil (consequences) of what they had done would appear to them and surround them, what they had been mocking with

وَقِيلَ ٱلْيَوْمَ نَنسَىٰكُمْ كَمَا نَسِيتُمْ لِقَآءَ يَوْمِكُمْ هَـٰذَا وَمَأْوَىٰكُمُ ٱلنَّارُ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن نَّـٰصِرِينَ

Wa qeelal yawma nansaakum kamaa naseetum liqaaa'a yawmikum haazaa wa maawaakumun Naaru wa maa lakum min naasireen

And it shall be Said: “Today We Forsake you as you forgot the meeting of this day of yours, and your abode is the Fire, and there are no helpers for you

ذَٰلِكُم بِأَنَّكُمُ ٱتَّخَذْتُمْ ءَايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ هُزُوًا وَغَرَّتْكُمُ ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنْيَا ۚ فَٱلْيَوْمَ لَا يُخْرَجُونَ مِنْهَا وَلَا هُمْ يُسْتَعْتَبُونَ

Zaalikum bi annakumut takhaztum aayaatil laahi huzuwanw wa gharratkumul hayaatud dunyaa; fal yawma laa yukhrajoona minhaa wa laahum yusta'taboon

That is because you took the Signs of Allah in mockery and the life of the world deceived you. So today, neither will they be exiting from it nor would they be (allowed to) make amends

فَلِلَّهِ ٱلْحَمْدُ رَبِّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَرَبِّ ٱلْأَرْضِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

Falillaahil hamdu Rabbis samaawaati wa Rabbil ardi Rabbil-'aalameen

So, for Allah is the Praise, Lord of the skies and Lord of the earth, Lord of the worlds

وَلَهُ ٱلْكِبْرِيَآءُ فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ وَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ

Wa lahul kibriyaaa'u fissamaawaati wal ardi wa Huwal 'Azeezul Hakeem

And for Allah is the Greatness in the skies and the earth, and He is the Mighty, the Wise
