وَٱلطُّورِ

Wat-Toor

(I Swear) by the Toor

وَكِتَـٰبٍ مَّسْطُورٍ

Wa kitaabim mastoor

And the written Book

فِى رَقٍّ مَّنشُورٍ

Fee raqqim manshoor

In a published Parchment

وَٱلْبَيْتِ ٱلْمَعْمُورِ

Wal baitil ma'moor

And Al-Bayt Al-Mamour (the Oft-frequented House)

وَٱلسَّقْفِ ٱلْمَرْفُوعِ

Wassaqfil marfoo'

And the Raised canopy

وَٱلْبَحْرِ ٱلْمَسْجُورِ

Wal bahril masjoor

And the swelling sea

إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ لَوَٰقِعٌ

Inna 'azaaba Rabbika lawaaqi'

Surely, the Punishment of your Lord will transpire

مَّا لَهُۥ مِن دَافِعٍ

Maa lahoo min daafi'

There would be no defender for it

يَوْمَ تَمُورُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ مَوْرًا

Yawma tamoorus samaaa'u mawraa

On the Day the sky will shake with a (violent) shaking

وَتَسِيرُ ٱلْجِبَالُ سَيْرًا

Wa taseerul jibaalu sairaa

And the mountains will move with a (severe) movement

فَوَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

Fawailuny yawma 'izil lil mukaazzibeen

So, woe be unto the beliers on that Day

ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ فِى خَوْضٍ يَلْعَبُونَ

Allazeena hum fee khawdiny yal'aboon

Those who are playing around in vain discourses

يَوْمَ يُدَعُّونَ إِلَىٰ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ دَعًّا

Yawma yuda'-'oona ilaa naari jahannama da'-'aa

A Day they would be Called to the Fire of Hell with a Calling:

هَـٰذِهِ ٱلنَّارُ ٱلَّتِى كُنتُم بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ

Haazihin naarul latee kuntum bihaa tukazziboon

“This is the Fire which you used to bely!

أَفَسِحْرٌ هَـٰذَآ أَمْ أَنتُمْ لَا تُبْصِرُونَ

Afasihrun haazaaaa am antum laa tubsiroon

Is this sorcery then, or you cannot see?

ٱصْلَوْهَا فَٱصْبِرُوٓا۟ أَوْ لَا تَصْبِرُوا۟ سَوَآءٌ عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ إِنَّمَا تُجْزَوْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

Islawhaa fasbirooo aw laa tasbiroo sawaaa'un 'alaikum innamaa tujzawna maa kuntum ta'maloon

Arrive to it! So whether you bear patiently or do not bear patiently, it would be the same upon you. But rather, you are being Recompensed for what you had been doing!”

إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّـٰتٍ وَنَعِيمٍ

Innal muttaqeena fee jannaatinw wa na'eem

Surely, the pious would be in Gardens and Bliss

فَـٰكِهِينَ بِمَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ وَوَقَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ عَذَابَ ٱلْجَحِيمِ

Faakiheena bimaaa aataahum rabbuhum wa waqaahum rabbuhum 'azaabal jaheem

Enjoying with what their Lord would have Given them, and their Lord would Save them from the Punishment of the Blazing Fire

كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

Kuloo washraboo haneee 'am bimaa kuntum ta'maloon

“Eat and drink pleasantly, due to what you had been doing!”

مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مَّصْفُوفَةٍ ۖ وَزَوَّجْنَـٰهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٍ

Muttaki'eena 'alaa sururim masfoofatinw wa zawwaj naahum bihoorin 'een

Reclining upon couches set in rows, and We shall get them to be married with Maiden Houries

وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَٱتَّبَعَتْهُمْ ذُرِّيَّتُهُم بِإِيمَـٰنٍ أَلْحَقْنَا بِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ وَمَآ أَلَتْنَـٰهُم مِّنْ عَمَلِهِم مِّن شَىْءٍ ۚ كُلُّ ٱمْرِئٍۭ بِمَا كَسَبَ رَهِينٌ

Wallazeena aamanoo wattaba'at hum zurriyyatuhum bieemaanin alhaqnaa bihim zurriyyatahum wa maaa alatnaahum min 'amalihim min shai'; kullum ri'im bimaa kasaba raheen

And those who believe and their offspring follow them with Eman, We will Unite their offspring to be with them and We will not Deprive them of anything from their deeds. Every person is pledged with what he earns

وَأَمْدَدْنَـٰهُم بِفَـٰكِهَةٍ وَلَحْمٍ مِّمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ

Wa amdadnaahum bifaa kihatinw wa lahmim mimmaa yashtahoon

And We will Extend to them with fruits and meat from whatever they desire

يَتَنَـٰزَعُونَ فِيهَا كَأْسًا لَّا لَغْوٌ فِيهَا وَلَا تَأْثِيمٌ

Yatanaaza'oona feehaa kaasal laa laghwun feehaa wa laa taaseem

They shall pass to each other therein a cup, there neither being any ill speech during it nor any sinful talk

۞ وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ غِلْمَانٌ لَّهُمْ كَأَنَّهُمْ لُؤْلُؤٌ مَّكْنُونٌ

Wa yatoofu 'alaihim ghilmaanul lahum ka annahum lu'lu'um maknoon

And young servants would circle around for them, as if they are treasured pearls

وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ

Wa aqbala ba'duhum 'alaa ba'diny yatasaaa'aloon

And some of them shall face unto others questioning,

قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا كُنَّا قَبْلُ فِىٓ أَهْلِنَا مُشْفِقِينَ

Qaalooo innaa kunnaa qablu feee ahlinaa mushfiqeen

Saying, ‘Surely we used to be fearful regarding our families,

فَمَنَّ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْنَا وَوَقَىٰنَا عَذَابَ ٱلسَّمُومِ

Famannnal laahu 'alainaa wa waqaanaa 'azaabas samoom

But Allah Conferred upon us and Saved us from the Punishment of toxic fumes

إِنَّا كُنَّا مِن قَبْلُ نَدْعُوهُ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْبَرُّ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

Innaa kunnaa min qablu nad'oohu innahoo huwal barrur raheem

Surely, we used to supplicate to Him from before. Indeed, He is the most Kind, the Merciful’

فَذَكِّرْ فَمَآ أَنتَ بِنِعْمَتِ رَبِّكَ بِكَاهِنٍ وَلَا مَجْنُونٍ

Fazakkir famaaa anta bini'mati rabbika bikaahininw wa laa majnoon

Therefore, continue to remind, for by the Grace of your Lord, you are neither a soothsayer nor a madman

أَمْ يَقُولُونَ شَاعِرٌ نَّتَرَبَّصُ بِهِۦ رَيْبَ ٱلْمَنُونِ

Am yaqooloona shaa'irun natarabbasu bihee raibal manoon

Or are they saying, ‘(He is) a poet. We shall wait for him to fall prey to an accident’

قُلْ تَرَبَّصُوا۟ فَإِنِّى مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْمُتَرَبِّصِينَ

Qul tarabbasoo fa innee ma'akum minal mutarabbiseen

Say: ‘You wait, and I am from the waiting ones, along with you

أَمْ تَأْمُرُهُمْ أَحْلَـٰمُهُم بِهَـٰذَآ ۚ أَمْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ طَاغُونَ

Am taamuruhum ahlaamuhum bihaazaaa am hum qawmun taaghoon

Or are their dreams instructing them with this, or are they an inordinate people?

أَمْ يَقُولُونَ تَقَوَّلَهُۥ ۚ بَل لَّا يُؤْمِنُونَ

Am yaqooloona taqawwalah; bal laa yu'minoon

Or are they saying, ‘He made it up himself’? But they are not believing

فَلْيَأْتُوا۟ بِحَدِيثٍ مِّثْلِهِۦٓ إِن كَانُوا۟ صَـٰدِقِينَ

Falyaatoo bihadeesim misliheee in kaanoo saadiqeen

Then let them come with a Hadeeth (Verse) similar to it, if they were truthful

أَمْ خُلِقُوا۟ مِنْ غَيْرِ شَىْءٍ أَمْ هُمُ ٱلْخَـٰلِقُونَ

Am khuliqoo min ghairi shai'in am humul khaaliqoon

Or were they created from nothing, or are they the creators?

أَمْ خَلَقُوا۟ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ ۚ بَل لَّا يُوقِنُونَ

Am khalaqus samaawaati wal ard; bal laa yooqinoon

Or did they create the skies and the earth? But, they are not certain

أَمْ عِندَهُمْ خَزَآئِنُ رَبِّكَ أَمْ هُمُ ٱلْمُصَۣيْطِرُونَ

Am'indahum khazaaa'inu rabbika am humul musaitiroon

Or are there with them treasures of your Lord, or are they the controllers?

أَمْ لَهُمْ سُلَّمٌ يَسْتَمِعُونَ فِيهِ ۖ فَلْيَأْتِ مُسْتَمِعُهُم بِسُلْطَـٰنٍ مُّبِينٍ

Am lahum sullamuny yastami'oona feehi falyaati mustami'uhum bisultaanim mubeen

Or are there ascents for them they can be listening with? Then let their listeners come with a clear authorisation

أَمْ لَهُ ٱلْبَنَـٰتُ وَلَكُمُ ٱلْبَنُونَ

Am lahul banaatu wa lakumul banoon

Or are the daughters for Him and the sons for you all?

أَمْ تَسْـَٔلُهُمْ أَجْرًا فَهُم مِّن مَّغْرَمٍ مُّثْقَلُونَ

Am tas'aluhum ajran fahum mim maghramim musqaloon

Or did you (ever) ask them for a recompense, so that they are overburdened by liabilities?

أَمْ عِندَهُمُ ٱلْغَيْبُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُونَ

Am 'indahumul ghaibu fahum yaktuboon

Or is (the knowledge of) the unseen with them, so they are writing it down?

أَمْ يُرِيدُونَ كَيْدًا ۖ فَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلْمَكِيدُونَ

Am yureedoona kaidan fallazeena kafaroo humul makeedoon

Or do they want to plot? But those who commit Kufr, they would be ones Planned (against)

أَمْ لَهُمْ إِلَـٰهٌ غَيْرُ ٱللَّهِ ۚ سُبْحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ

Am lahum ilaahun ghairul laa; subhaanal laahi 'ammaa yushrikoon

Or is there a god for them other than Allah? Glorious is Allah from what they are associating!

وَإِن يَرَوْا۟ كِسْفًا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ سَاقِطًا يَقُولُوا۟ سَحَابٌ مَّرْكُومٌ

Wa iny yaraw kisfam minas samaaa'i saaqitany yaqooloo sahaabum markoom

And if they should see pieces of the sky falling down, they would be saying: ‘Piled up clouds’

فَذَرْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ يُلَـٰقُوا۟ يَوْمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى فِيهِ يُصْعَقُونَ

Fazarhum hatta yulaaqoo yawmahumul lazee feehi yus'aqoon

So, leave them until they meet their Day in which they would be fainting

يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِى عَنْهُمْ كَيْدُهُمْ شَيْـًٔا وَلَا هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ

Yawma laa yughnee 'anhum kaiduhum shai'anw wa laa hum yunsaroon

A Day their plotting would not avail them of anything nor would they be helped

وَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ عَذَابًا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

Wa inna lillazeena zalamoo 'azaaban doona zalika wa laakinna aksarahum laa ya'lamoon

And surely for those who are unjust there would be Punishment besides (in addition) that, but most of them do not know

وَٱصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ فَإِنَّكَ بِأَعْيُنِنَا ۖ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ

Wasbir lihukmi rabbika fa innaka bi-a'yuninaa wa sabbih bihamdi rabbika heena taqoom

And wait patiently for the Decision of your Lord, for you are in Our Sight, and Glorify with Praise of your Lord when you stand

وَمِنَ ٱلَّيْلِ فَسَبِّحْهُ وَإِدْبَـٰرَ ٱلنُّجُومِ

Wa minal laili fasabbihhu wa idbaaran nujoom

And from the night, so Glorify Him, and at the retreat of the stars
