An-Najm

وَٱلنَّجْمِ إِذَا هَوَىٰ

Wannajmi izaa hawaa

(I Swear) by the star when it swoops down

مَا ضَلَّ صَاحِبُكُمْ وَمَا غَوَىٰ

Maa dalla saahibukum wa maa ghawaa

Your companion does not err, and does not deviate

وَمَا يَنطِقُ عَنِ ٱلْهَوَىٰٓ

Wa maa yyantiqu 'anilhawaaa

And he does not speak out of (personal) desire

إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحْىٌ يُوحَىٰ

In huwa illaa Wahyuny yoohaa

Surely, it is only a Revelation He Revealed

عَلَّمَهُۥ شَدِيدُ ٱلْقُوَىٰ

'Allamahoo shadeedul quwaa

The Mighty of Strength Taught him

ذُو مِرَّةٍ فَٱسْتَوَىٰ

Zoo mirratin fastawaa

With a seal, so he attained completion

وَهُوَ بِٱلْأُفُقِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ

Wa huwa bil ufuqil a'laa

And he was in the highest horizon

ثُمَّ دَنَا فَتَدَلَّىٰ

Summa danaa fatadalla

Then he approached, so he bowed

فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوْسَيْنِ أَوْ أَدْنَىٰ

Fakaana qaaba qawsaini aw adnaa

So, he was (at a distance of) two bows or nearer

فَأَوْحَىٰٓ إِلَىٰ عَبْدِهِۦ مَآ أَوْحَىٰ

Fa awhaaa ilaa 'abdihee maaa awhaa

And He Revealed unto His servant what He Revealed

مَا كَذَبَ ٱلْفُؤَادُ مَا رَأَىٰٓ

Maa kazabal fu'aadu maa ra aa

The heart did not belie what it saw

أَفَتُمَـٰرُونَهُۥ عَلَىٰ مَا يَرَىٰ

Afatumaaroonahoo 'alaa maayaraa

So, will you then dispute with him upon what he saw?

وَلَقَدْ رَءَاهُ نَزْلَةً أُخْرَىٰ

Wa laqad ra aahu nazlatan ukhraa

And he had seen him in another descent

عِندَ سِدْرَةِ ٱلْمُنتَهَىٰ

'Inda sidratil muntaha

At Al-Sidrat Al-Muntaha

عِندَهَا جَنَّةُ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰٓ

'Indahaa jannatul maawaa

By the Garden of abode

إِذْ يَغْشَى ٱلسِّدْرَةَ مَا يَغْشَىٰ

Iz yaghshas sidrata maa yaghshaa

When the Al-Sidrat Al-Muntaha was overwhelmed by what overwhelmed it

مَا زَاغَ ٱلْبَصَرُ وَمَا طَغَىٰ

Maa zaaghal basaru wa maa taghaa

Neither did the sight deviate nor did it exceed

لَقَدْ رَأَىٰ مِنْ ءَايَـٰتِ رَبِّهِ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰٓ

Laqad ra aa min aayaati Rabbihil kubraaa

He saw from the greatest Signs of his Lord

أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ ٱللَّـٰتَ وَٱلْعُزَّىٰ

Afara'aytumul laata wal 'uzzaa

So have you considered Al-Laat and Al-Uzza,

وَمَنَوٰةَ ٱلثَّالِثَةَ ٱلْأُخْرَىٰٓ

Wa manaatas saalisatal ukhraa

And Al-Manat, the third, the other?

أَلَكُمُ ٱلذَّكَرُ وَلَهُ ٱلْأُنثَىٰ

A-lakumuz zakaru wa lahul unsaa

Is the male for you and for him the female?

تِلْكَ إِذًا قِسْمَةٌ ضِيزَىٰٓ

Tilka izan qismatun zeezaa

Then that is an unfair division

إِنْ هِىَ إِلَّآ أَسْمَآءٌ سَمَّيْتُمُوهَآ أَنتُمْ وَءَابَآؤُكُم مَّآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ بِهَا مِن سُلْطَـٰنٍ ۚ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ وَمَا تَهْوَى ٱلْأَنفُسُ ۖ وَلَقَدْ جَآءَهُم مِّن رَّبِّهِمُ ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ

In hiya illaaa asmaaa'un sammaitumoohaaa antum wa aabaaa'ukum maaa anzalal laahu bihaa min sultaan; inyyattabi'oona illaz zanna wa maa tahwal anfusu wa laqad jaaa'ahum mir Rabbihimul hudaa

Surely, these are only names (which) you and your fathers have named. Allah did not Send any Authorisation of it. Surely, they are not following except the conjecture and whatever the souls incline them to, and (although) the Guidance had come to them from their Lord

أَمْ لِلْإِنسَـٰنِ مَا تَمَنَّىٰ

Am lil insaani maa taman naa

Or should there be for the human being whatever he wishes for?

فَلِلَّهِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُ وَٱلْأُولَىٰ

Falillaahil aakhiratu wal oolaa

For Allah is the Hereafter and the former (life)

۞ وَكَم مِّن مَّلَكٍ فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ لَا تُغْنِى شَفَـٰعَتُهُمْ شَيْـًٔا إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعْدِ أَن يَأْذَنَ ٱللَّهُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيَرْضَىٰٓ

Wa kam mim malakin fissamaawaati laa tughnee shafaa'atuhum shai'an illaa mim ba'di anyyaazanal laahu limany yashaaa'u wa yarzaa

And how many an Angel is there in the skies whose intercession does not avail anything except from after Allah Permits it for one, He so Desires and is Pleased (with)

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ لَيُسَمُّونَ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ تَسْمِيَةَ ٱلْأُنثَىٰ

Innal lazeena laa yu'minoona bil aakhirati la yusammoonal malaaa'ikata tasmiyatal unsaa

Surely, those who are not believing in the Hereafter tend to name the Angels with female names

وَمَا لَهُم بِهِۦ مِنْ عِلْمٍ ۖ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ ۖ وَإِنَّ ٱلظَّنَّ لَا يُغْنِى مِنَ ٱلْحَقِّ شَيْـًٔا

Wa maa lahum bihee min 'ilmin iny yattabi'oona illaz zanna wa innaz zanna laa yughnee minal haqqi shai'aa

And there is no knowledge for them of it. Surely, they are not following except the conjecture, and surely the conjecture does not avail anything from the Truth

فَأَعْرِضْ عَن مَّن تَوَلَّىٰ عَن ذِكْرِنَا وَلَمْ يُرِدْ إِلَّا ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا

Fa a'rid 'am man tawallaa 'an zikrinaa wa lam yurid illal hayaatad dunyaa

Therefore, turn aside from one who turns his back from Our Zikr, and he does not want except the life of the world

ذَٰلِكَ مَبْلَغُهُم مِّنَ ٱلْعِلْمِ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنِ ٱهْتَدَىٰ

Zalika mablaghuhum minal 'ilm; inna rabbaka huwa a'lamu biman dalla 'an sabee lihee wa huwa a'lamu bimanih tadaa

That is their reach from the knowledge. Surely your Lord, He is more Knowing of one who strays from His Way, and He is more Knowing of one who follows rightful Guidance

وَلِلَّهِ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ لِيَجْزِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَسَـٰٓـُٔوا۟ بِمَا عَمِلُوا۟ وَيَجْزِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا۟ بِٱلْحُسْنَى

Wa lillaahi maa fis samaawaati wa maa fil ardi liyajziyal lazeena asaaa'oo bimaa 'amiloo wa yajziyal lazeena ahsanoo bilhusnaa

And for Allah is whatever is in the skies and whatever is in the earth, for Him to Recompense those committers of evil for what they had done, and (for) Him to Recompense those who did good, with the Goodness

ٱلَّذِينَ يَجْتَنِبُونَ كَبَـٰٓئِرَ ٱلْإِثْمِ وَٱلْفَوَٰحِشَ إِلَّا ٱللَّمَمَ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ وَٰسِعُ ٱلْمَغْفِرَةِ ۚ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِكُمْ إِذْ أَنشَأَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ وَإِذْ أَنتُمْ أَجِنَّةٌ فِى بُطُونِ أُمَّهَـٰتِكُمْ ۖ فَلَا تُزَكُّوٓا۟ أَنفُسَكُمْ ۖ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنِ ٱتَّقَىٰٓ

Allazeena yajtaniboona kabaaa'iral ismi walfawaa hisha illal lamam; inna rabbaka waasi'ul maghfirah; huwa a'lamu bikum iz ansha akum minal ardi wa iz antum ajinnatun fee butooni umma haatikum falaa tuzakkooo anfusakum huwa a'lamu bimanit taqaa

Those who are shunning the major sins and the immoralities except for the ‘Lamam’, surely your Lord is Capacious of the Forgiveness. He is more Knowing of you when He Produced you from the earth, and when you were embryos in the bellies of your mothers. Therefore, do no attribute purity to yourselves, He is more Knowing of the one who fears

أَفَرَءَيْتَ ٱلَّذِى تَوَلَّىٰ

Afara'ayatal lazee tawallaa

So have you seen the one who turns his back

وَأَعْطَىٰ قَلِيلًا وَأَكْدَىٰٓ

Wa a'taa qaleelanw wa akdaa

And gives a little and (then) is resentful

أَعِندَهُۥ عِلْمُ ٱلْغَيْبِ فَهُوَ يَرَىٰٓ

A'indahoo 'ilmul ghaibi fahuwa yaraa

Is there with him knowledge of the unseen, so he can see?

أَمْ لَمْ يُنَبَّأْ بِمَا فِى صُحُفِ مُوسَىٰ

Am lam yunabbaa bimaa fee suhuhfi Moosa

Or, did he (the Rasool) not inform of what is in the Parchment of Musa?

وَإِبْرَٰهِيمَ ٱلَّذِى وَفَّىٰٓ

Wa Ibraaheemal lazee waffaaa

And (Parchment of) Ibrahim who fulfilled it?

أَلَّا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِزْرَ أُخْرَىٰ

Allaa taziru waaziratunw wizra ukhraa

A bearer of a burden will not bear the burden of another

وَأَن لَّيْسَ لِلْإِنسَـٰنِ إِلَّا مَا سَعَىٰ

Wa al laisa lil insaani illaa maa sa'aa

And there wouldn’t be for the human being except what he strives for

وَأَنَّ سَعْيَهُۥ سَوْفَ يُرَىٰ

Wa anna sa'yahoo sawfa yuraa

And surely his striving will soon be Seen

ثُمَّ يُجْزَىٰهُ ٱلْجَزَآءَ ٱلْأَوْفَىٰ

Summa yujzaahul jazaaa 'al awfaa

Then He will Recompense him the fullest Recompense

وَأَنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلْمُنتَهَىٰ

Wa anna ilaa rabbikal muntahaa

And surely to your Lord is the ending

وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَضْحَكَ وَأَبْكَىٰ

Wa annahoo huwa adhaka wa abkaa

And that He it is Who makes (people) laugh and makes (them) cry

وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَمَاتَ وَأَحْيَا

Wa annahoo huwa amaata wa ahyaa

And surely He Causes to die and live

وَأَنَّهُۥ خَلَقَ ٱلزَّوْجَيْنِ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلْأُنثَىٰ

Wa annahoo khalaqaz zawjainiz zakara wal unsaa

And that He Created pairs, the male and the female

مِن نُّطْفَةٍ إِذَا تُمْنَىٰ

Min nutfatin izaa tumnaa

From a seed when it is emitted

وَأَنَّ عَلَيْهِ ٱلنَّشْأَةَ ٱلْأُخْرَىٰ

Wa anna 'alaihin nash atal ukhraa

And surely, upon it is another growth

وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَغْنَىٰ وَأَقْنَىٰ

Wa annahoo huwa aghnaa wa aqnaa

And it is He Who Enriches and Satisfies

وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ رَبُّ ٱلشِّعْرَىٰ

Wa annahoo huwa rabbush shi'raa

And surely, He is the Lord of the Sirius

وَأَنَّهُۥٓ أَهْلَكَ عَادًا ٱلْأُولَىٰ

Wa annahooo ahlak a 'Aadanil oolaa

And surely, He Destroyed (people of) Aad, the former ones

وَثَمُودَا۟ فَمَآ أَبْقَىٰ

Wa samooda famaaa abqaa

And Samood, so they did not remain

وَقَوْمَ نُوحٍ مِّن قَبْلُ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ هُمْ أَظْلَمَ وَأَطْغَىٰ

Wa qawma Noohim min qablu innahum kaanoo hum azlama wa atghaa

And the people of Nuh before; surely they were most unjust and most inordinate

وَٱلْمُؤْتَفِكَةَ أَهْوَىٰ

Wal mu'tafikata ahwaa

And the overthrown cities He Overthrew

فَغَشَّىٰهَا مَا غَشَّىٰ

Faghashshaahaa maa ghashshaa

So, there overcame these what overcame

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكَ تَتَمَارَىٰ

Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbika tatamaaraa

So, which of the Favours of your Lord will you two doubt?

هَـٰذَا نَذِيرٌ مِّنَ ٱلنُّذُرِ ٱلْأُولَىٰٓ

Haazaa nazeerum minan nuzuril oolaa

This one is a Warner from the former Warners

أَزِفَتِ ٱلْـَٔازِفَةُ

Azifatil aazifah

The approaching (Day) approaches

لَيْسَ لَهَا مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ كَاشِفَةٌ

Laisa lahaa min doonil laahi kaashifah

There isn’t any remover of it from besides Allah

أَفَمِنْ هَـٰذَا ٱلْحَدِيثِ تَعْجَبُونَ

Afamin hazal hadeesi ta'jaboon

So, is it from this Hadeeth you are astounded?

وَتَضْحَكُونَ وَلَا تَبْكُونَ

Wa tadhakoona wa laa tabkoon

And you are laughing and are not crying,

وَأَنتُمْ سَـٰمِدُونَ

Wa antum saamidoon

And you are amusing yourselves

فَٱسْجُدُوا۟ لِلَّهِ وَٱعْبُدُوا۟ ۩

Fasjudoo lillaahi wa'budoo (make sajda)

So, make obeisance (prostration) to Allah and worship (Him)
