Al-Muzzammil

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْمُزَّمِّلُ

Ya aiyuhal muzzammil

O you, Al-Muzzammil (the wrapped one)!

قُمِ ٱلَّيْلَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا

Qumil laila illaa qaleelaa

Stand (to pray Salat) at night except a little (while)

نِّصْفَهُۥٓ أَوِ ٱنقُصْ مِنْهُ قَلِيلًا

Nisfahooo awinqus minhu qaleelaa

Half of it, or a little less from it

أَوْ زِدْ عَلَيْهِ وَرَتِّلِ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ تَرْتِيلًا

Aw zid 'alaihi wa rattilil Qur'aana tarteela

Or increase upon it, and recite the Quran add to it, and recite the Quran distinctively

إِنَّا سَنُلْقِى عَلَيْكَ قَوْلًا ثَقِيلًا

Innaa sanulqee 'alaika qawlan saqeelaa

We will soon be casting upon you a weighty Word (Wilayah)

إِنَّ نَاشِئَةَ ٱلَّيْلِ هِىَ أَشَدُّ وَطْـًٔا وَأَقْوَمُ قِيلًا

Inn naashi'atal laili hiya ashadddu wat anw wa aqwamu qeelaa

Surely, arising at night, it is the firmest treading and the straightest speech

إِنَّ لَكَ فِى ٱلنَّهَارِ سَبْحًا طَوِيلًا

Inna laka fin nahaari sabhan taweelaa

Surely for you, during the day, is a lengthy occupation

وَٱذْكُرِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ وَتَبَتَّلْ إِلَيْهِ تَبْتِيلًا

Wazkuris ma rabbika wa tabattal ilaihi tabteelaa

And Mention the Name of your Lord and devote to Him with a devotion

رَّبُّ ٱلْمَشْرِقِ وَٱلْمَغْرِبِ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ فَٱتَّخِذْهُ وَكِيلًا

Rabbul mashriqi wal maghriibi laaa ilaaha illaa Huwa fattakhizhu wakeelaa

Lord of the East and the West - there is no god except Him, therefore take Him as a Protector/Supporter

وَٱصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَٱهْجُرْهُمْ هَجْرًا جَمِيلًا

Wasbir 'alaa maa yaqoo loona wahjurhum hajran jameelaa

And be patient upon what they are saying, and avoid them with a beautiful avoidance

وَذَرْنِى وَٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ أُو۟لِى ٱلنَّعْمَةِ وَمَهِّلْهُمْ قَلِيلًا

Wa zarnee walmukaz zibeena ulin na'mati wa mahhilhum qaleelaa

And leave Me and the beliers, possessors of the bounties, and their respite is (only) a little

إِنَّ لَدَيْنَآ أَنكَالًا وَجَحِيمًا

Inna ladainaaa ankaalanw wa jaheemaa

Surely, with Us are heavy shackles and a Blazing Fire

وَطَعَامًا ذَا غُصَّةٍ وَعَذَابًا أَلِيمًا

Wa ta'aaman zaa ghussa tinw wa'azaaban aleemaa

And food that chokes and a painful Punishment

يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَٱلْجِبَالُ وَكَانَتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَثِيبًا مَّهِيلًا

Yawma tarjuful ardu waljibaalu wa kaanatil jibaalu kaseebam maheelaa

On the day when the ground and the mountains will shudder and the mountains would be like heaps of loose sand

إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَيْكُمْ رَسُولًا شَـٰهِدًا عَلَيْكُمْ كَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ رَسُولًا

Innaa arsalnaaa ilaikum rasoolan shaahidan 'aleykum kamaaa arsalnaaa ilaa Fir'awna rasoolaa

Surely, We Sent a Rasool to you as a witness upon you, just as We had Sent a Rasool to Pharaoh

فَعَصَىٰ فِرْعَوْنُ ٱلرَّسُولَ فَأَخَذْنَـٰهُ أَخْذًا وَبِيلًا

Fa'asaa Fir'awnur Rasoola fa akhaznaahu akhzanw wabeelaa

But Pharaoh disobeyed the Rasool, so We Seized him with a ruinous Seizing

فَكَيْفَ تَتَّقُونَ إِن كَفَرْتُمْ يَوْمًا يَجْعَلُ ٱلْوِلْدَٰنَ شِيبًا

Fakaifa tattaqoona in kafartum yawmany yaj'alul wildaana sheeba

So, how will you guard yourselves if you deny a Day, which would make children grey-haired?

ٱلسَّمَآءُ مُنفَطِرٌۢ بِهِۦ ۚ كَانَ وَعْدُهُۥ مَفْعُولًا

Assamaaa'u munfatirum bih; kaana wa'duhoo maf'oola

The sky will be rent asunder by it. His Promise would always be fulfilled

إِنَّ هَـٰذِهِۦ تَذْكِرَةٌ ۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ سَبِيلًا

Inna haazihee tazkiratun fa man shaaa'at takhaza ilaa Rabbihee sabeelaa

Surely, this is a Tazkara. So one who so desires can take a way to his Lord

۞ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ تَقُومُ أَدْنَىٰ مِن ثُلُثَىِ ٱلَّيْلِ وَنِصْفَهُۥ وَثُلُثَهُۥ وَطَآئِفَةٌ مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ مَعَكَ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ يُقَدِّرُ ٱلَّيْلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَ ۚ عَلِمَ أَن لَّن تُحْصُوهُ فَتَابَ عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ فَٱقْرَءُوا۟ مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنَ ٱلْقُرْءَانِ ۚ عَلِمَ أَن سَيَكُونُ مِنكُم مَّرْضَىٰ ۙ وَءَاخَرُونَ يَضْرِبُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ يَبْتَغُونَ مِن فَضْلِ ٱللَّهِ ۙ وَءَاخَرُونَ يُقَـٰتِلُونَ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ۖ فَٱقْرَءُوا۟ مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنْهُ ۚ وَأَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتُوا۟ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَأَقْرِضُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًا ۚ وَمَا تُقَدِّمُوا۟ لِأَنفُسِكُم مِّنْ خَيْرٍ تَجِدُوهُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ هُوَ خَيْرًا وَأَعْظَمَ أَجْرًا ۚ وَٱسْتَغْفِرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌۢ

Inna Rabbaka ya'lamu annaka taqoomu adnaa min sulusa yil laili wa nisfahoo wa sulusahoo wa taaa'ifatum minal lazeena ma'ak; wal laahu yuqaddirul laila wanna haar; 'alima al lan tuhsoohu fataaba 'alaikum faqra'oo maa tayassara minal quraan; 'alima an sa yakoonu minkum mardaa wa aakharoona yadriboona fil ardi yabtaghoona min fadlil laahi wa aakharoona yuqaatiloona fee sabeelil laahi faqra'oo ma tayassara minhu wa aqeemus salaata wa aatuz zakaata wa aqridul laaha qardan hasanaa; wa maa tuqadimoo li anfusikum min khairin tajidoohu 'indal laahi huwa khayranw wa a'zama ajraa; wastaghfirul laahaa innal laaha ghafoorur raheem.

Surely, your Lord Knows that you stand (in Salat) nearly two-thirds of the night, and half of it, and a third of it, and (so do) a group of those who are with you. And Allah Measures the night and the day. He Knows that you will never compute it. So He Turned to you all, therefore recite from the Quran what is easy for you. He Knows that from you (some) would become sick, and others would be going about in the earth seeking from the Grace of Allah, and others would be fighting in the Way of Allah. Therefore, recite from it what is easy for you. And establish the Salat, and give the Zakat, and lend a goodly loan to Allah. And whatever you send ahead for yourselves from the good, you will be finding it in the Presence of Allah, it being better and greater in Recompense. And seek Forgiveness of Allah, surely He is Forgiving, Merciful
