Al-Insan

هَلْ أَتَىٰ عَلَى ٱلْإِنسَـٰنِ حِينٌ مِّنَ ٱلدَّهْرِ لَمْ يَكُن شَيْـًٔا مَّذْكُورًا

Hal ataa 'alal insaani heenum minad dahri lam yakun shai'am mazkooraa

Didn’t there come upon the human being, a phase/time, when he did not happen to be a mentionable thing?

إِنَّا خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ أَمْشَاجٍ نَّبْتَلِيهِ فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ سَمِيعًۢا بَصِيرًا

Innaa khalaqnal insaana min nutfatin amshaajin nabta leehi faja'alnaahu samee'am baseeraa

Surely, We Created the human being from a uniting seed. We Wanted to Try him, so We Made him hearing, seeing

إِنَّا هَدَيْنَـٰهُ ٱلسَّبِيلَ إِمَّا شَاكِرًا وَإِمَّا كَفُورًا

Innaa hadainaahus sabeela immaa shaakiranw wa immaa kafoora

We certainly Guided him of the Way. Either he is grateful, or he commits Kufr

إِنَّآ أَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكَـٰفِرِينَ سَلَـٰسِلَا۟ وَأَغْلَـٰلًا وَسَعِيرًا

Innaaa a'tadnaa lilkaa fireena salaasila wa aghlaalanw wa sa'eeraa

Surely, We have Prepared for the Kafirs, chains and shackles and Saeer (Inferno)

إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ يَشْرَبُونَ مِن كَأْسٍ كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا كَافُورًا

Innal abraara yashra boona min kaasin kaana mizaa juhaa kaafooraa

Surely, the righteous would be drinking from a cup, its admixture would be of camphor

عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا عِبَادُ ٱللَّهِ يُفَجِّرُونَهَا تَفْجِيرًا

'Aynany yashrabu bihaa 'ibaadul laahi yufajjiroonahaa tafjeeraa

A fountain, from it the servants of Allah would be drinking. He shall Make it flow in abundance

يُوفُونَ بِٱلنَّذْرِ وَيَخَافُونَ يَوْمًا كَانَ شَرُّهُۥ مُسْتَطِيرًا

Yoofoona binnazri wa yakhaafoona yawman kaana sharruhoo mustateeraa

They are fulfilling the vows and are fearing a Day, the horror of it (the day) would be widespread

وَيُطْعِمُونَ ٱلطَّعَامَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِۦ مِسْكِينًا وَيَتِيمًا وَأَسِيرًا

Wa yut”imoonat ta'aama 'alaa hubbihee miskeenanw wa yateemanw wa aseeraa

And they fed the food to a poor, and an orphan and a captive out of love (for Allah),

إِنَّمَا نُطْعِمُكُمْ لِوَجْهِ ٱللَّهِ لَا نُرِيدُ مِنكُمْ جَزَآءً وَلَا شُكُورًا

Innaamaa nut'imukum li wajhil laahi laa nureedu minkum jazaaa'anw wa laa shukooraa

(They said): ‘But rather, we are feeding you for the Face of Allah, neither wanting any recompense from you nor any appreciation’

إِنَّا نَخَافُ مِن رَّبِّنَا يَوْمًا عَبُوسًا قَمْطَرِيرًا

Innaa nakhaafu mir Rabbinna Yawman 'aboosan qamtareeraa

Surely, we fear from our Lord a harsh, distressful Day

فَوَقَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ شَرَّ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمِ وَلَقَّىٰهُمْ نَضْرَةً وَسُرُورًا

Fa waqaahumul laahu sharra zaalikal yawmi wa laqqaahum nadratanw wa surooraa

Therefore, Allah will Protect them for the horror of that Day and cast freshness and happiness to them

وَجَزَىٰهُم بِمَا صَبَرُوا۟ جَنَّةً وَحَرِيرًا

Wa jazaahum bimaa sabaroo janatanw wa hareeraa

And Recompense them due to their being patient, a Garden and silk

مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ فِيهَا عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ ۖ لَا يَرَوْنَ فِيهَا شَمْسًا وَلَا زَمْهَرِيرًا

Muttaki'eena feeha 'alal araaa 'iki laa yarawna feehaa shamsanw wa laa zamhareeraa

Reclining therein upon the couches, neither seeing (heat of a) sun therein nor intense cold

وَدَانِيَةً عَلَيْهِمْ ظِلَـٰلُهَا وَذُلِّلَتْ قُطُوفُهَا تَذْلِيلًا

Wa daaniyatan 'alaihim zilaaluhaa wa zullilat qutoofu haa tazleela

And it shades would stoop unto them, and its selections would droop with humbleness

وَيُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِـَٔانِيَةٍ مِّن فِضَّةٍ وَأَكْوَابٍ كَانَتْ قَوَارِيرَا۠

Wa yutaafu 'alaihim bi aaniyatim min fiddatinw wa akwaabin kaanat qawaareeraa

And they (servants) would circle around them with vessels of silvers and goblets as if these were glass

قَوَارِيرَا۟ مِن فِضَّةٍ قَدَّرُوهَا تَقْدِيرًا

Qawaareera min fiddatin qaddaroohaa taqdeeraa

Glasses of silver, measuring these with a measurement

وَيُسْقَوْنَ فِيهَا كَأْسًا كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا زَنجَبِيلًا

Wa yuskawna feehaa kaasan kaana mizaajuhaa zanjabeelaa

And they would be quenching there in cups, its admixture being of ginger

عَيْنًا فِيهَا تُسَمَّىٰ سَلْسَبِيلًا

'Aynan feeha tusammaa salsabeelaa

(Of) a Fountain therein named as Salsabeel

۞ وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ وِلْدَٰنٌ مُّخَلَّدُونَ إِذَا رَأَيْتَهُمْ حَسِبْتَهُمْ لُؤْلُؤًا مَّنثُورًا

Wa yatoofu 'alaihim wildaanum mukhalladoona izaa ra aytahum hasibtahum lu'lu 'am mansoora

And eternal youths would circle around them. When you see them, you will reckon them to be scattered pearls

وَإِذَا رَأَيْتَ ثَمَّ رَأَيْتَ نَعِيمًا وَمُلْكًا كَبِيرًا

Wa izaa ra ayta samma ra ayta na'eemanw wa mulkan kabeera

And when you see, then you will see Blessings and a great Kingdom

عَـٰلِيَهُمْ ثِيَابُ سُندُسٍ خُضْرٌ وَإِسْتَبْرَقٌ ۖ وَحُلُّوٓا۟ أَسَاوِرَ مِن فِضَّةٍ وَسَقَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ شَرَابًا طَهُورًا

'Aaliyahum siyaabu sundusin khudrunw wa istabraq, wa hullooo asaawira min fiddatinw wa saqaahum Rabbuhum sharaaban tahooraa

Upon them would be clothes of green fine silk and brocade, and they would be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord would Quench them with a pure drink

إِنَّ هَـٰذَا كَانَ لَكُمْ جَزَآءً وَكَانَ سَعْيُكُم مَّشْكُورًا

Innaa haazaa kaana lakum jazz 'anw wa kaana sa'yukum mashkooraa

Surely, this would be a Recompense for you and your striving (which) would always be appreciated

إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ تَنزِيلًا

Innaa nahnu nazzalnaa 'alaikal quraana tanzeelaa

Surely, We Revealed unto you the Quran in stages

فَٱصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تُطِعْ مِنْهُمْ ءَاثِمًا أَوْ كَفُورًا

Fasbir lihukmi Rabbika wa laa tuti' minhum aasiman aw kafooraa

Therefore, be patient for the Decision of your Lord, and neither heed from them a sinner nor a Kafir

وَٱذْكُرِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ بُكْرَةً وَأَصِيلًا

Wazkuris ma Rabbika bukratanw wa aseelaa

And do Zikr of a Name of your Lord, in the morning and evening

وَمِنَ ٱلَّيْلِ فَٱسْجُدْ لَهُۥ وَسَبِّحْهُ لَيْلًا طَوِيلًا

Wa minal laili fasjud lahoo wa sabbihhu lailan taweelaa

And from the night. So do Sajdah to Him, and Glorify Him at night for long

إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ يُحِبُّونَ ٱلْعَاجِلَةَ وَيَذَرُونَ وَرَآءَهُمْ يَوْمًا ثَقِيلًا

Inna haaa'ulaa'i yuhibboona 'aajilata wa yazaroona waraaa'ahum yawman saqeelaa

Surely, they are loving the present (life) and are leaving behind them a heavy Day

نَّحْنُ خَلَقْنَـٰهُمْ وَشَدَدْنَآ أَسْرَهُمْ ۖ وَإِذَا شِئْنَا بَدَّلْنَآ أَمْثَـٰلَهُمْ تَبْدِيلًا

Nahnu khalaqnaahum wa shadadnaaa asrahum wa izaa shi'naa baddalnaaa amsaala hum tabdeelaa

We Created them and Strengthened their forms. And when We Desire, We will Replace their like with a replacement

إِنَّ هَـٰذِهِۦ تَذْكِرَةٌ ۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ سَبِيلًا

Inna haazihee tazkiratun fa man shaaa'at takhaza ilaa rabbihee sabeela

Surely, this is a Tazkira. So one who desires to – (strive for) the ‘Sabeel’ (direction/way) to his Lord

وَمَا تَشَآءُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا

Wa maa tashaaa'oona illaa anyyashaaa'al laah; innal laahaa kaana'Aleeman Hakeema

And you (Imams) are not desiring except if Allah so Desires. Surely Allah was always Knowing, Wise

يُدْخِلُ مَن يَشَآءُ فِى رَحْمَتِهِۦ ۚ وَٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ أَعَدَّ لَهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًۢا

Yudkhilu mai yashaaa'u fee rahmatih; wazzaalimeena a'adda lahum 'azaaban aleemaa

He Enters one He so Desires to into His Mercy, and (for) the unjust ones, He has Prepared for them a painful Punishment
