An-Naba

عَمَّ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ

'Amma Yatasaa-aloon

What are they asking (one another) about?

عَنِ ٱلنَّبَإِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ

'Anin-nabaa-il 'azeem

About the Magnificent News,

ٱلَّذِى هُمْ فِيهِ مُخْتَلِفُونَ

Allazi hum feehi mukh talifoon

Which they are disagreeing over?

كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ

Kallaa sa y'alamoon

Indeed, they shall soon come to know

ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ

Thumma kallaa sa y'alamoon

Then (again), Indeed! They shall soon come to know

أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ ٱلْأَرْضَ مِهَـٰدًا

Alam naj'alil arda mihaa da

Have We not made the earth a cradle?

وَٱلْجِبَالَ أَوْتَادًا

Wal jibaala au taada

And the mountains as pegs?

وَخَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ أَزْوَٰجًا

Wa khalaq naakum azwaaja

And We Created you in pairs

وَجَعَلْنَا نَوْمَكُمْ سُبَاتًا

Waja'alna naumakum subata

And We Made your sleep to be rest

وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلَّيْلَ لِبَاسًا

Waja'alnal laila libasa

And We Made the night a covering

وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلنَّهَارَ مَعَاشًا

Waja'alnan nahara ma 'aasha

And We Made the day for livelihood

وَبَنَيْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعًا شِدَادًا

Wa banaina fauqakum sab 'an shi daada

And We Built seven strong (skies) above you

وَجَعَلْنَا سِرَاجًا وَهَّاجًا

Waja'alna siraajaw wah haaja

And We Made a burning lamp (sun)

وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلْمُعْصِرَٰتِ مَآءً ثَجَّاجًا

Wa anzalna minal m'usiraati maa-an thaj-jaaja

And We Send down from the clouds (with) abundant water

لِّنُخْرِجَ بِهِۦ حَبًّا وَنَبَاتًا

Linukh rija bihee habbaw wana baata

So, We may produce gain and plants with it

وَجَنَّـٰتٍ أَلْفَافًا

Wa jan naatin alfafa

And the luxuriant(lush green) gardens

إِنَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِيقَـٰتًا

Inna yaumal-fasli kana meeqaata

Surely, the Day of Decision is (a Day) of appointment

يَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِى ٱلصُّورِ فَتَأْتُونَ أَفْوَاجًا

Yauma yun fakhu fis-soori fataa toona afwaaja

A Day it would be blown into the Trumpet, so you would be coming in crowds

وَفُتِحَتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتْ أَبْوَٰبًا

Wa futiha tis samaa-u fakaanat abwaaba

And the sky would be Opened up, so it would be like gateways

وَسُيِّرَتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ فَكَانَتْ سَرَابًا

Wa suyyi raatil jibaalu fa kaanat saraaba

And the mountains would move, so these would be like mirages

إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتْ مِرْصَادًا

Inna jahan nama kaanat mirsaada

Surely, Hell would be lying in wait

لِّلطَّـٰغِينَ مَـَٔابًا

Lit taa gheena ma aaba

A place of return for the tyrants

لَّـٰبِثِينَ فِيهَآ أَحْقَابًا

Laa bitheena feehaa ahqaaba

They would be living therein for ages

لَّا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرْدًا وَلَا شَرَابًا

Laa ya zooqoona feeha bar daw walaa sharaaba

They shall neither be tasting therein coolness nor drink

إِلَّا حَمِيمًا وَغَسَّاقًا

Illa hamee maw-wa ghas saaqa

Except scalding water and pus

جَزَآءً وِفَاقًا

Jazaa-aw wi faaqa

Being an appropriate Recompense

إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ لَا يَرْجُونَ حِسَابًا

Innahum kaanu laa yarjoona hisaaba

They were not expecting a Reckoning

وَكَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا كِذَّابًا

Wa kazzabu bi aayaa tina kizzaba

And they belied Our Signs with a belying

وَكُلَّ شَىْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَـٰهُ كِتَـٰبًا

Wa kulla shai-in ahsai naahu kitaa ba

And all things We have Enumerated/specified it in a Book

فَذُوقُوا۟ فَلَن نَّزِيدَكُمْ إِلَّا عَذَابًا

Fa zooqoo falan-nazee dakum ill-laa azaaba

Therefore taste! But, it will never increase you except in torment

إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًا

Inna lil mutta qeena mafaaza

Surely, for the pious, there would be success

حَدَآئِقَ وَأَعْنَـٰبًا

Hadaa-iqa wa a'anaa ba

Gardens and vineyards

وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتْرَابًا

Wa kaawa 'iba at raaba

And voluptuous/attractive women of equal age

وَكَأْسًا دِهَاقًا

Wa ka'san di haaqa

And a filled/brimming/ cup

لَّا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا كِذَّٰبًا

Laa yasma'oona fiha lagh waw walaa kizzaba

They will neither be hearing any vanities therein nor any lies

جَزَآءً مِّن رَّبِّكَ عَطَآءً حِسَابًا

Jazaa-am mir-rabbika ataa-an hisaaba

A Recompense from your Lord, a Calculated gift

رَّبِّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ۖ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ مِنْهُ خِطَابًا

Rabbis samaa waati wal ardi wa maa baina humar rahmaani laa yam likoona minhu khitaaba

Lord of the skies and the earth and what is between the two, the Beneficent. They control no means of addressing Him;

يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلرُّوحُ وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ صَفًّا ۖ لَّا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابًا

Yauma yaqoo mur roohu wal malaa-ikatu saf-fal laa yatakallamoona ill-laa man azina lahur rahmaanu wa qaala sawaaba

A Day on which the Spirit and the Angels would be standing in rows, not speaking except one the Beneficent Permits for him, and speaks the correct thing

ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمُ ٱلْحَقُّ ۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ مَـَٔابًا

Zaalikal yaumul haqqu faman shaa-at ta khaaza ill-laa rabbihi ma-aaba

That is the Day of the Truth. So one who desires will be able to take a refuge to his Lord

إِنَّآ أَنذَرْنَـٰكُمْ عَذَابًا قَرِيبًا يَوْمَ يَنظُرُ ٱلْمَرْءُ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُ ٱلْكَافِرُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى كُنتُ تُرَٰبًۢا

In naa anzar naakum azaaban qareebaiy-yauma yan zurul marr-u maa qaddamat yadaahu wa ya qoolul-kaafiru yaa lai tanee kuntu turaaba

Surely, We have warned you of a near Punishment on the Day the person would see what his hands had sent ahead, and the Kafir would be saying, ‘O! I wish I was dust!’
