Al-Ghashiyah

هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلْغَـٰشِيَةِ

Hal ataaka hadeesul ghaashiyah

Has there come to you a Hadeeth (narration) of the overwhelming event?

وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَـٰشِعَةٌ

Wujoohuny yawma 'izin khaashi'ah

(Some) Faces on that day will be humiliated

عَامِلَةٌ نَّاصِبَةٌ

'Aamilatun naasibah

(Of the) toiling Nasibis (Hostile ones)

تَصْلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةً

Taslaa naaran haamiyah

(They will be) Arriving to a scorching Fire

تُسْقَىٰ مِنْ عَيْنٍ ءَانِيَةٍ

Tusqaa min 'aynin aaniyah

(They will be) Quenching from a boiling spring

لَّيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِن ضَرِيعٍ

Laisa lahum ta'aamun illaa min zaree'

There wouldn’t be any food for them except from bitter thorns

لَّا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِى مِن جُوعٍ

Laa yusminu wa laa yughnee min joo'

Neither fattening (nourishing) or availing from hunger

وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاعِمَةٌ

Wujoohuny yawma 'izin naa'imah

(Some) faces on that day will be joyful

لِّسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌ

Lisa'yihaa raadiyah

Pleased of their striving

فِى جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ

Fee jannatin 'aaliyah

In a lofty Garden

لَّا تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لَـٰغِيَةً

Laa tasma'u feehaa laaghiyah

You will not hear vain talk therein

فِيهَا عَيْنٌ جَارِيَةٌ

Feehaa 'aynun jaariyah

Therein is a flowing spring

فِيهَا سُرُرٌ مَّرْفُوعَةٌ

Feehaa sururum marfoo'ah

Therein are raised couches

وَأَكْوَابٌ مَّوْضُوعَةٌ

Wa akwaabum mawzoo'ah

And placed cups

وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌ

Wa namaariqu masfoofah

And cushions set in a row

وَزَرَابِىُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌ

Wa zaraabiyyu mabsoosah

And carpets spread out

أَفَلَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَى ٱلْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ

Afalaa yanzuroona ilalibili kaifa khuliqat

Do they not consider how camels have been created?

وَإِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ

Wa ilas samaaa'i kaifa rufi'at

And at the sky, how it is raised (lifted up),

وَإِلَى ٱلْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ

Wa ilal jibaali kaifa nusibat

And at the mountains, how they are encored

وَإِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ

Wa ilal ardi kaifa sutihat

And at the earth, how it is spread out?

فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُذَكِّرٌ

Fazakkir innama anta Muzakkir

Therefore, do Zikr. But rather, you (Rasool Allah) are a Zikr

لَّسْتَ عَلَيْهِم بِمُصَيْطِرٍ

Lasta 'alaihim bimusaitir

You aren’t a controller over them

إِلَّا مَن تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ

Illaa man tawallaa wa kafar

Except one who turns away and commits Kufr

فَيُعَذِّبُهُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَكْبَرَ

Fa yu'azzibuhul laahul 'azaabal akbar

So, Allah will Punish him with the greatest Punishment

إِنَّ إِلَيْنَآ إِيَابَهُمْ

Innaa ilainaaa iyaabahum

Surely, to Us is their return

ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُم

Summa inna 'alainaa hisaabahum

Then surely their Reckoning is upon Us
