Al-Fajr

وَٱلْفَجْرِ

Wal-Fajr

(I Swear) by the dawn

وَلَيَالٍ عَشْرٍ

Wa layaalin 'ashr

(I Swear) ten nights

وَٱلشَّفْعِ وَٱلْوَتْرِ

Wash shaf'i wal watr

(I Swear) the even and the odd

وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا يَسْرِ

Wallaili izaa yasr

(I Swear) the night when it passes

هَلْ فِى ذَٰلِكَ قَسَمٌ لِّذِى حِجْرٍ

Hal fee zaalika qasamul lizee hijr

Is there (not) in that an oath for the one with understanding?

أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِعَادٍ

Alam tara kaifa fa'ala rabbuka bi'aad

Do you not see how your Lord Dealt with (people of) Aad?

إِرَمَ ذَاتِ ٱلْعِمَادِ

Iramaa zaatil 'imaad

(People of) Iram, possessors of lofty pillars

ٱلَّتِى لَمْ يُخْلَقْ مِثْلُهَا فِى ٱلْبِلَـٰدِ

Allatee lam yukhlaq misluhaa fil bilaad

The likes of which were not created in the (other) cities

وَثَمُودَ ٱلَّذِينَ جَابُوا۟ ٱلصَّخْرَ بِٱلْوَادِ

Wa samoodal lazeena jaabus sakhra bil waad

And (people of) Samood, those who carved the rocks in the valleys

وَفِرْعَوْنَ ذِى ٱلْأَوْتَادِ

Wa fir'awna zil awtaad

And Pharaoh, with the pegs

ٱلَّذِينَ طَغَوْا۟ فِى ٱلْبِلَـٰدِ

Allazeena taghaw fil bilaad

Those who transgressed in the cities

فَأَكْثَرُوا۟ فِيهَا ٱلْفَسَادَ

Fa aksaroo feehal fasaad

So, they frequented the mischief therein

فَصَبَّ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّكَ سَوْطَ عَذَابٍ

Fasabba 'alaihim Rabbuka sawta 'azaab

Therefore, your Lord pondered them with Punishment

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِٱلْمِرْصَادِ

Inna Rabbaka labil mirsaad

Surely, your Lord is Ever-watchful

فَأَمَّا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ إِذَا مَا ٱبْتَلَىٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ فَأَكْرَمَهُۥ وَنَعَّمَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّىٓ أَكْرَمَنِ

Fa ammal insaanu izaa mab talaahu Rabbuhoo fa akramahoo wa na' 'amahoo fa yaqoolu Rabbeee akraman

So as for the human being, when his Lord Tries him and Honours him, and Favours him, then he is saying, ‘My Lord has honoured me’

وَأَمَّآ إِذَا مَا ٱبْتَلَىٰهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيْهِ رِزْقَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّىٓ أَهَـٰنَنِ

Wa ammaaa izaa mabtalaahu faqadara 'alaihi rizqahoo fa yaqoolu Rabbeee ahaanan

And when He Tries him and Straitens his sustenance upon him, then he is saying, ‘My Lord has disgraced me’

كَلَّا ۖ بَل لَّا تُكْرِمُونَ ٱلْيَتِيمَ

Kalla bal laa tukrimooo nal yateem

Never! But you are not being bivalent with the orphan

وَلَا تَحَـٰٓضُّونَ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلْمِسْكِينِ

Wa laa tahaaaddoona 'alaata'aamil miskeen

And you are not eager upon feeding the poor

وَتَأْكُلُونَ ٱلتُّرَاثَ أَكْلًا لَّمًّا

Wa taakuloonat turaasa aklal lammaa

And you are devouring the inheritances, devouring indiscriminately

وَتُحِبُّونَ ٱلْمَالَ حُبًّا جَمًّا

Wa tuhibboonal maala hubban jammaa

And you love the wealth, (with) excessive love

كَلَّآ إِذَا دُكَّتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ دَكًّا دَكًّا

Kallaaa izaaa dukkatil ardu dakkan dakka

Never! When the earth is levelled by pounding (and) pounding

وَجَآءَ رَبُّكَ وَٱلْمَلَكُ صَفًّا صَفًّا

Wa jaaa'a Rabbuka wal malaku saffan saffaa

And your Lord would come, and the Angel(s) would be (in) rows (and) rows

وَجِا۟ىٓءَ يَوْمَئِذٍۭ بِجَهَنَّمَ ۚ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَتَذَكَّرُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ وَأَنَّىٰ لَهُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ

Wa jeee'a yawma'izim bi jahannnam; Yawma 'iziny yatazakkarul insaanu wa annaa lahuz zikraa

And on that Day they would come with Hell. On that Day the human being would remember, and how would the Zikr be for him?

يَقُولُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى قَدَّمْتُ لِحَيَاتِى

Yaqoolu yaa laitanee qaddamtu lihayaatee

He would be saying, ‘Oh I wish I had sent ahead for my life (in Hereafter)!’

فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَّا يُعَذِّبُ عَذَابَهُۥٓ أَحَدٌ

Fa Yawma izil laa yu'azzibu 'azaabahooo ahad

So, on that Day, no one will Punish (like) His Punishment

وَلَا يُوثِقُ وَثَاقَهُۥٓ أَحَدٌ

Wa laa yoosiqu wasaaqa hooo ahad

And no one will bind (like) His Binding

يَـٰٓأَيَّتُهَا ٱلنَّفْسُ ٱلْمُطْمَئِنَّةُ

Yaaa ayyatuhan nafsul mutma 'innah

O you the contented soul!

ٱرْجِعِىٓ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكِ رَاضِيَةً مَّرْضِيَّةً

Irji'eee ilaa Rabbiki raadiyatam mardiyyah

Return to your Lord, being well-pleased, He being Well-Pleased

فَٱدْخُلِى فِى عِبَـٰدِى

Fadkhulee fee 'ibaadee

So, enter (to be) among My servants

وَٱدْخُلِى جَنَّتِى

Wadkhulee jannatee

And enter into My Garden
