Al-Layl

وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَىٰ

Wallaili izaa yaghshaa

(I Swear) by the night when it spreads (overcomes)

وَٱلنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّىٰ

Wannahaari izaa tajalla

And (I Swear) by the day (a special day) when it (is going to) light-up (the truth/Justice)

وَمَا خَلَقَ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلْأُنثَىٰٓ

Wa maa khalaqaz zakara wal unthaa

And what is Created of the male (a particular male) and the female (a particular female)

إِنَّ سَعْيَكُمْ لَشَتَّىٰ

Inna sa'yakum lashattaa

Surely, your striving is different (ways)

فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَىٰ وَٱتَّقَىٰ

Fa ammaa man a'taa wattaqaa

So, as for one who gives and fears (Allah)

وَصَدَّقَ بِٱلْحُسْنَىٰ

Wa saddaqa bil husnaa

And ratifies the most excellent

فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ

Fasanu yassiruhoo lilyusraa

So, We will be Facilitating him to the ease (in the Hereafter)

وَأَمَّا مَنۢ بَخِلَ وَٱسْتَغْنَىٰ

Wa ammaa man bakhila wastaghnaa

And as for one who is stingy and (considers himself) needless

وَكَذَّبَ بِٱلْحُسْنَىٰ

Wa kazzaba bil husnaa

And belies the most excellent (aspect of Eman/Wilayah)

فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلْعُسْرَىٰ

Fasanu yassiruhoo lil'usraa

So, We will be Facilitating him to the difficulties

وَمَا يُغْنِى عَنْهُ مَالُهُۥٓ إِذَا تَرَدَّىٰٓ

Wa maa yughnee 'anhu maaluhooo izaa taraddaa

And his wealth will not avail him when he falls

إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا لَلْهُدَىٰ

Inna 'alainaa lal hudaa

Surely, upon Us (Allah and Prophet) is to Guide (towards Imam)

وَإِنَّ لَنَا لَلْـَٔاخِرَةَ وَٱلْأُولَىٰ

Wa inna lanaa lal Aakhirata wal oolaa

And surely for Us is the Hereafter and the closeness

فَأَنذَرْتُكُمْ نَارًا تَلَظَّىٰ

Fa anzartukum naaran talazzaa

So, I warn you of a Fire set ablaze

لَا يَصْلَىٰهَآ إِلَّا ٱلْأَشْقَى

Laa yaslaahaaa illal ashqaa

None shall arrive to it except the most wretched

ٱلَّذِى كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ

Allazee kazzaba wa tawallaa

The one who belied and turned his back

وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا ٱلْأَتْقَى

Wa sa yujannnabuhal atqaa

And the pious would be kept away from it (Hell fire)

ٱلَّذِى يُؤْتِى مَالَهُۥ يَتَزَكَّىٰ

Allazee yu'tee maalahoo yatazakkaa

The one who gives his wealth and purifies

وَمَا لِأَحَدٍ عِندَهُۥ مِن نِّعْمَةٍ تُجْزَىٰٓ

Wa maa li ahadin 'indahoo min ni'matin tujzaaa

And there is no favour for anyone with him to be Recompensed for

إِلَّا ٱبْتِغَآءَ وَجْهِ رَبِّهِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ

Illab tighaaa'a wajhi rabbihil a 'laa

Except (he is) seeking the Face of his Lord, the most Exalted

وَلَسَوْفَ يَرْضَىٰ

Wa lasawfa yardaa

And soon he will be pleased
