Some Ahadith are presented here from Al-Kafi Vol. 4 related to the rewards of Salat and shortening it (Qasr):
Rewards of Salat:
عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَ غَيْرُهُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ خَلَّادٍ الْقَلَانِسِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ مَكَّةُ حَرَمُ اللَّهِ وَ حَرَمُ رَسُولِهِ وَ حَرَمُ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ( عليه السلام ) الصَّلَاةُ فِيهَا بِمِائَةِ أَلْفِ صَلَاةٍ وَ الدِّرْهَمُ فِيهَا بِمِائَةِ أَلْفِ دِرْهَمٍ
Ali Bin Ibrahim, and someone else, from his father, from Khallad Al Qalansy,
(It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah-asws having said: ‘Makkah is a Harram of Allah-azwj, and a Harram of His-azwj Rasool-saww, and a Harram of Amir Al-Momineen-asws. The praying of Salaat therein is (equated) to a hundred thousand Salaats, and the Dirham (of charity) therein is (equated) to one hundred Dirhams.
وَ الْمَدِينَةُ حَرَمُ اللَّهِ وَ حَرَمُ رَسُولِهِ وَ حَرَمُ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ صَلَوَاتُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِمَا الصَّلَاةُ فِيهَا بِعَشَرَةِ آلَافِ صَلَاةٍ وَ الدِّرْهَمُ فِيهَا بِعَشَرَةِ آلَافِ دِرْهَمٍ
And Al-Medina is a Harram of Allah-azwj, and a Harram of His-azwj Rasool-saww, and a Harram of Amir Al-Momieen-asws. The Salaat (prayed) therein is (equated) to ten thousand Salaats, and the Dirham (of charity) therein is (equated) to ten thousand Dirhams.
وَ الْكُوفَةُ حَرَمُ اللَّهِ وَ حَرَمُ رَسُولِهِ وَ حَرَمُ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ( عليه السلام ) الصَّلَاةُ فِيهَا بِأَلْفِ صَلَاةٍ وَ الدِّرْهَمُ فِيهَا بِأَلْفِ دِرْهَمٍ.
And Al-Kufa is a Harram of Allah-azwj, and a Harram of His-azwj Rasool-saww, and a Harram of Amir Al-Momineen-asws. The Salaat (prayed) therein is (equated) to a thousand Salaats, and the Dirham (of charity) therein is (equated) to a thousand Dirhams’.[1]
Salat is complete (without shortening it – not Qasr)
مُحَمَّدُ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ جَرِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ تَتِمُّ الصَّلَاةُ فِي أَرْبَعَةِ مَوَاطِنَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ وَ مَسْجِدِ الرَّسُولِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) وَ مَسْجِدِ الْكُوفَةِ وَ حَرَمِ الْحُسَيْنِ صَلَوَاتُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ .
Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Muhammad Bin Al Husayn, from Muhammad Bin Sinan, from Is’haq Bin Jareer, from Abu Baseer, from Abu Abdullah-asws, said,
‘I heard him-asws saying: ‘The Salaat is complete in four places – in the Masjid of Al-Harram, and the Masjid of the Rasool-saww, and the Masjid of Al-Kufa, and the Harram of Al-Husayn-asws’.[2]
عَلِيٌّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ بْنِ مَنْصُورٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مَنْ سَمِعَ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) يَقُولُ تَتِمُّ الصَّلَاةُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ وَ مَسْجِدِ الرَّسُولِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) وَ مَسْجِدِ الْكُوفَةِ وَ حَرَمِ الْحُسَيْنِ ( عليه السلام ).
Ali Bin Muhammad Bin Al Husayn, from Muhammad Bin Sinan, from Huzeyfa Bin Mansour who said,
‘It was narrated to me by the one who heard Abu Abdullah-asws saying: ‘The Salaat is complete in the Masjid of Al-Harram, and the Masjid of the Rasool-saww, and Masjid of Al-Kufa, and Harram of Al-Husayn-asws’.[3]
أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الْأَشْعَرِيُّ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مَهْزِيَارَ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ أَبِي الْبِلَادِ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا يُقَالُ لَهُ حُسَيْنٌ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ تَتِمُّ الصَّلَاةُ فِي ثَلَاثَةِ مَوَاطِنَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ وَ مَسْجِدِ الرَّسُولِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) وَ عِنْدَ قَبْرِ الْحُسَيْنِ ( عليه السلام ) .
Abu Ali Al Ashary, from Al Hassan Bin Ali, from Ali Bin Mahziyar, from Al Husayn Bin Saeed, from Ibrahim Bin Abu Al Balaad, from a man from our companions called Husayn,
(It has also been narrated) from Abu Abdullah-asws having said: ‘The Salaat is complete in three places – in the Masjid of Al-Harram, and the Masjid of the Rasool-saww, and by the grave of Al-Husayn-asws’.[4]
عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ الْقُمِّيِّ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ جَابِرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ خَادِمِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ تَتِمُّ الصَّلَاةُ فِي أَرْبَعَةِ مَوَاطِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ وَ مَسْجِدِ الرَّسُولِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) وَ مَسْجِدِ الْكُوفَةِ وَ حَرَمِ الْحُسَيْنِ ( عليه السلام ) .
A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Al Husayn Bin Saeed, from Abdul Malik Al Qummy, from Ismail Bin Jabir, from Abdul Hameed, a servant of Ismail Bin Ja’far,
(It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah-asws having said: ‘The Salaat is complete in four places – The Masjid of Al-Harram, and the Masjid of the Rasool-saww, and the Masjid of Al-Kufa-asws, and Harram of Al-Husayn-asws’.[5]
عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ عُقْبَةَ عَنْ أَبِي شِبْلٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) أَزُورُ قَبْرَ الْحُسَيْنِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ نَعَمْ زُرِ الطَّيِّبَ وَ أَتِمَّ الصَّلَاةَ فِيهِ قُلْتُ فَإِنَّ بَعْضَ أَصْحَابِنَا يَرَوْنَ التَّقْصِيرَ قَالَ إِنَّمَا يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ الضَّعَفَةُ .
A number of our companions, from Sahl Bin Ziyad, from Muhammad Bin Abdullah, from Salih Bin Uqba, from Abu Shibl who said,
‘I said to Abu Abdullah-asws, ‘Shall I perform Ziyarah of the grave of Al-Husayn-asws?’ He-asws said: ‘Yes. Perform Ziyarah of the pure one and complete the Salaat therein’. I said, ‘But some of our companions are reporting the shortening (of the Salaat)’. He-asws said: ‘But rather, that is done by the weak ones’.[6]
