azwj: – Az Za Wa Jalla (God who is with utmost respect and very Powerful)
الكافي الْعِدَّةُ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ حُكَيْمٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الصَّيْرَفِيِّ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ قَالَ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ص فِي عُمْرَةِ الْقَضَاءِ شَرَطَ عَلَيْهِمْ أَنْ يَرْفَعُوا الْأَصْنَامَ مِنَ الصَّفَا وَ الْمَرْوَةِ فَتَشَاغَلَ رَجُلٌ حَتَّى تَرَكَ السَّعْيَ حَتَّى انْقَضَتِ الْأَيَّامُ وَ أُعِيدَتِ الْأَصْنَامُ فَجَاءُوا إِلَيْهِ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ فُلَاناً لَمْ يَسْعَ بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَ الْمَرْوَةِ وَ قَدْ أُعِيدَتِ الْأَصْنَامُ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَ فَلا جُناحَ عَلَيْهِ أَنْ يَطَّوَّفَ بِهِما أَيْ وَ عَلَيْهِمَا الْأَصْنَامُ.
Al Kafi – The number, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Muawiya Bin Hukeym, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Al Hassan Bin Ali Al Sayrafi, from one of our companions,
From Abu Abdullah-asws having said: ‘Rasool-Allah-saww stipulated upon them during the expired Umrah that they lift the idols from Al-Safa and Al-Marwa. A man worked until he neglected the Sa’ee until the days expired and the idols were returned. They came to him-saww and said, ‘O Rasool-Allah-saww! So and so did not perform Sa’ee between Al-Safa and Al-Marwa, and the idols have returned.’ So, ‘اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَ’ Allah-azwj Mighty and Majestic Revealed: there is no blame on him if he goes [and] does Tawaaf of both of them; [2:158] – i.e., and upon (the mountains) are the idols’’.[1]
saww: – Sal lal la ho Allay hay Wa Aal lay hee Wasallam (Blessing be upon our (Chief Muhammad-saww) and his-saww Purified Progeny-asws)
صَلَّى اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ، وَسَلَّمَ تَسْلِيماً كَثِيراً
May Allah-azwj Bless him-saww and his-saww family-asws, and grant them-asws much peace.[2]
asws: – Allay hay Salawat Wass Salam (Who are the Praiseworth of Salutations and Peace)
فَخَرَجَ التَّوْقِيعُ بِلَعْنِهِمْ وَ الْبَرَاءَةِ مِنْهُمْ جَمِيعاً عَلَى يَدِ الشَّيْخِ أَبِي الْقَاسِمِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ رَوْحٍ نُسْخَتُهُ اعْرِفْ أَطَالَ اللَّهُ بَقَاءَكَ وَ عَرَّفَكَ الْخَيْرَ كُلَّهُ وَ خَتَمَ بِهِ عَمَلَكَ مَنْ تَثِقُ بِدِينِهِ وَ تَسْكُنُ إِلَى نِيَّتِهِ مِنْ إِخْوَانِنَا أَدَامَ اللَّهُ سَعَادَتَهُمْ
The letter emerged with cursing them and disavowing from them all, upon the hand of the Sheikh Abu Al-Qasim Al-Husayn Bin Rawh.
Its copy is: ‘May Allah-azwj Grant you prolongation of your remaining (life), and Grant you the goodness, all of it, and End your deeds with it, as one who is trusted with his religion and settles to his intentions, from our brethren, may Allah-azwj Support them constantly.
بِأَنَّ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ الْمَعْرُوفَ بِالشَّلْمَغَانِيِّ عَجَّلَ اللَّهُ لَهُ النَّقِمَةَ وَ لَا أَمْهَلَهُ قَدِ ارْتَدَّ عَنِ الْإِسْلَامِ وَ فَارَقَهُ وَ أَلْحَدَ فِي دِينِ اللَّهِ وَ ادَّعَى مَا كَفَرَ مَعَهُ بِالْخَالِقِ جَلَّ وَ تَعَالَى وَ افْتَرَى كَذِباً وَ زُوراً وَ قَالَ بُهْتَاناً وَ إِثْماً عَظِيماً
‘Muhammad Bin Ali, well known as Al-Shalmaghani, may Allah-azwj Hasten the Punishment to him and not Respite him, has reneged from Al-Islam and separated from it, and he is an apostate in the religion of Allah-azwj and has claimed what he has blasphemed with the Creator, Majestic and Exalted, and he fabricated lies and falsehood, and said false accusations and might sins.
كَذَبَ الْعَادِلُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَ ضَلُّوا ضَلالًا بَعِيداً وَ خَسِرُوا خُسْراناً مُبِيناً وَ إِنَّا بَرِئْنَا إِلَى اللَّهِ تَعَالَى وَ إِلَى رَسُولِهِ وَ آلِهِ صَلَوَاتُ اللَّهِ وَ سَلَامُهُ وَ رَحْمَتُهُ وَ بَرَكَاتُهُ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنْهُ
‘He has lied (to) the just ones with Allah-azwj and strayed a far straying, and incurred losses with a manifest loss, and we-ajfj disavow to Allah-azwj the Exalted, and to His-azwj Rasool-saww and his-saww Progeny-asws, may the Salawaat of Allah-azwj, and His-azwj Greetings, and His-azwj Mercy, and His-azwj Blessings be upon them-asws from Him-azwj… (an extract).’[3]
ajfj: Ajal Allah hou wa Fara Jaak (May Allah-azwj Hasten his reappearance and make it easier)
عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ مَرَّارٍ عَنْ يُونُسَ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) يَقُولُ لَسِيرَةُ عَلِيٍّ ( عليه السلام ) فِي أَهْلِ الْبَصْرَةِ كَانَتْ خَيْراً لِشِيعَتِهِ مِمَّا طَلَعَتْ عَلَيْهِ الشَّمْسُ إِنَّهُ عَلِمَ أَنَّ لِلْقَوْمِ دَوْلَةً فَلَوْ سَبَاهُمْ لَسُبِيَتْ شِيعَتُهُ
Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, form Ismail Bin Marrar, from Yunus, from Abu Bakr Al Hazramy who said,
‘I heard Abu Abdullah-asws saying: ‘The way of Ali-asws among the people of Al-Basra was what was better for his-asws Shiah from what the sun emerges upon. He-asws knew that for the people there would be a government (in the future), if he-asws were to make them captives, they would make captives of his-asws Shiah’.
قُلْتُ فَأَخْبِرْنِي عَنِ الْقَائِمِ ( عليه السلام ) يَسِيرُ بِسِيرَتِهِ قَالَ لَا إِنَّ عَلِيّاً ( صلوات الله عليه ) سَارَ فِيهِمْ بِالْمَنِّ لِلْعِلْمِ مِنْ دَوْلَتِهِمْ وَ إِنَّ الْقَائِمَ عَجَّلَ اللَّهُ فَرَجَهُ يَسِيرُ فِيهِمْ بِخِلَافِ تِلْكَ السِّيرَةِ لِأَنَّهُ لَا دَوْلَةَ لَهُمْ .
‘I said, ‘So inform me about Al-Qaim-asws, would his-asws way be his-asws (Ali-asws’s) way?’ He-asws said: ‘No. Ali-asws dealt among them with the favours due to the knowledge of their government, and Al-Qaim-asws, may Allah-azwj Hasten his-asws appearance, would deal among them with opposite to that manner because there would be no government for them (afterwards)’.[4]
as: – Allay hay Salawat (For them is the Salutations)
وَ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عِيسَى، عَنْ أَبَانِ بْنِ تَغْلِبَ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ: أَنَّ أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ لَقِيَ أَبَا بَكْرٍ، فَاحْتَجَّ عَلَيْهِ. ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهُ: أَ مَا تَرْضَى بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ بَيْنِي وَ بَيْنَكَ؟! قَالَ: وَ كَيْفَ لِي بِهِ؟
And Usman Bin Isa, from Aban Bin Taghlub,
From Abu Abdullah-asws: ‘Amir Al-Momineen-asws met Abu Bakr and argued against him. Then he-asws said to him: ‘Will you agree with Rasool-Allah-saww being between me-asws and you?’ He said, ‘And how I be with him-saww?’
فَأَخَذَ بِيَدِهِ وَ أَتَى مَسْجِدَ قُبَا، فَإِذَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ فِيهِ، فَقَضَى عَلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ. فَرَجَعَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ مَذْعُوراً، فَلَقِيَ عُمَرَ فَأَخْبَرَهُ، فَقَالَ: مَا لَكَ؟! أَ مَا عَلِمْتَ سِحْرَ بَنِي هَاشِمٍ.
He-asws grabbed his hand and came to Masjid Quba, and there was Rasool-Allah-saww. He-saww judged against Abu Bakr. Abu Bakr returned frightened. He met Umar and informed him. He said, ‘What is the matter with you? Do you not know of the sorcery of the Clan of Hashim-as?’’[5]
ra: – Razi Allah-azwj (May Allah-azwj be Please with him)
مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ عَنْ رَجُلٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَجَّاجِ قَالَ أَكَلْنَا مَعَ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) فَأُوتِينَا بِقَصْعَةٍ مِنْ أَرُزٍّ فَجَعَلْنَا نُعَذِّرُ فَقَالَ ( عليه السلام ) مَا صَنَعْتُمْ شَيْئاً إِنَّ أَشَدَّكُمْ حُبّاً لَنَا أَحْسَنُكُمْ أَكْلًا عِنْدَنَا
Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Isa, from Umar Bin Abdul Aziz, from a man from Abdul Rahman Bin Al Hajjaj who said,
‘We ate with Abu Abdullah-asws, and we were brought a bowl of rice. So we went on excusing ourselves, so he-asws said: ‘What thing are you doing? The one of you with the most intense love for us-asws, is the best of you in eating with us-asws’’.
قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ فَرَفَعْتُ كُسْحَةَ الْمَائِدَةِ فَأَكَلْتُ فَقَالَ نَعَمْ الْآنَ وَ أَنْشَأَ يُحَدِّثُنَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) أُهْدِيَ إِلَيْهِ قَصْعَةُ أَرُزٍّ مِنْ نَاحِيَةِ الْأَنْصَارِ فَدَعَا سَلْمَانَ وَ الْمِقْدَادَ وَ أَبَا ذَرٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ فَجَعَلُوا يُعَذِّرُونَ فِي الْأَكْلِ فَقَالَ مَا صَنَعْتُمْ شَيْئاً أَشَدُّكُمْ حُبّاً لَنَا أَحْسَنُكُمْ أَكْلًا عِنْدَنَا فَجَعَلُوا يَأْكُلُونَ أَكْلًا جَيِّداً
Abdul Rahman (the narrator) said, ‘So I raised the covering of the meal, so I ate. So he-asws said: ‘Yes, now’. And he-asws started narrating that: ‘Rasool-Allah-saww was gifted a bowl of rice from the area of the Helpers. So he-saww called over Salman-as, and Al-Miqdad-as, and Abu Dharr-as, may Allah-azwj be Pleased with them-as. So they went on excusing themselves regarding the eating. So he-saww said: ‘What thing are you-as doing? The most intense of you-as all in love for us-saww is the best of you-as all in eating with us-asws’. So they went on to eat well’.
ثُمَّ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) رَحِمَهُمُ اللَّهُ وَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ وَ صَلَّى عَلَيْهِمْ .
‘Then Abu Abdullah-asws said: ‘رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ’ May Allah-azwj have Mercy on them-ra, and may Allah-azwj be Pleased with them-ra, and Send Blessings upon them-as’.[6]
La: – Laan Allah-azwj (May Allah-azwj condemn him)
قَالَ: وَ حَدَّثَنِي أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ قَالَ: قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ: أَنَا وَ أَنْتَ يَا عَلِيُّ أَبَوَا هَذَا الْخَلْقِ، فَمَنْ عَقَّنَا فَعَلَيْهِ لَعْنَةُ اللَّهِ، أَمِّنْ يَا عَلِيُّ: فَقُلْتُ: آمِينَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ.
He said, ‘And Amir Al-Momineen-asws narrated to me saying: ‘Rasool-Allah-saww said to me-asws: ‘I-saww and you-asws, O Ali-asws, are two fathers of these people. The one who is disloyal to us-asws, upon him is the ‘لَعْنَةُ اللَّهِ’ Curse of Allah-azwj. Say, ‘Ameen’, O Ali-asws!’ I-asws said: ‘Ameen, O Rasool-Allah-saww!’
وَ قَالَ: يَا عَلِيُّ أَنَا وَ أَنْتَ أَجِيرَا هَذَا الْخَلْقِ، فَمَنْ مَنَعَنَا أَجْرَنَا فَعَلَيْهِ لَعْنَةُ اللَّهُ، أَمِّنْ يَا عَلِيُّ. [فَقُلْتُ: آمِينَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ].
‘And he-saww said: ‘O Ali-asws! I-saww and you-asws are two hired ones of these people. The one who prevents us-asws of our-asws wages, upon him is the Curse of Allah-azwj. (Say) ‘Ameen’, O Ali-asws!’ I-asws said: ‘Ameen, O Rasool-Allah-saww!’
[وَ قَالَ: يَا عَلِيُ] أَنَا وَ أَنْتَ مَوْلَيَا هَذَا الْخَلْقِ، فَمَنْ جَحَدَنَا وَلَاءَنَا وَ أَنْكَرَنَا حَقَّنَا فَعَلَيْهِ لَعْنَةُ اللَّهُ، أَمِّنْ يَا عَلِيُّ. فَقُلْتُ: آمِينَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ.
‘And he-saww said: ‘O Ali-asws! I-saww and you-asws are two Masters of these people. The one who rejects our Mastership and denies us-asws of our-asws rights, upon him is the Curse of Allah-azwj. (Say) ‘Ameen’, O Ali-asws!’ I-asws said: ‘Ameen, O Rasool-Allah-saww!’[7]
