Consensus, Mutual Agreement
فَلَمَّا ذَهَبُوا بِهِ وَأَجْمَعُوا أَنْ يَجْعَلُوهُ فِي غَيَابَتِ الْجُبِّ ۚ وَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْهِ لَتُنَبِّئَنَّهُمْ بِأَمْرِهِمْ هَٰذَا وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ {15}
So when they went with him, and they had formed ‘أَجْمَعُوا’ a consensus that they would be putting him into the bottom of the well, and We Revealed unto him: “You will be informing them of this matter of their while they would not be realising [12:15]
فقال أبو قرة: فتكذب بالروايات؟ فَقَالَ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ ع إِذَا كَانَتِ الرِّوَايَةُ مُخَالِفَةً لِلْقُرْآنِ كَذَّبْتُهَا وَ مَا أَجْمَعَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ عَلَيْهِ أَنَّهُ لَا يُحَاطُ بِهِ عِلْماً وَ لا تُدْرِكُهُ الْأَبْصارُ وَ لَيْسَ كَمِثْلِهِ شَيْءٌ
Abu Qarat said, ‘So you-asws are belying the reports?’ So Abu Al-Hassan-asws said: ‘If the report opposes the Quran, I-asws deny it, and what the Muslims have formed ‘أَجْمَعَ’ a consensus upon is that He-azwj cannot be grasped by knowledge, nor can the eyes visualise Him-azwj, and there is nothing similar to Him-azwj’.[1]
