Naṣīḥa (نصيحة,لنَّصِيحَةِ )

Advice

و قد روى أبو مخنف لوط بن يحيى هذا الكتاب بخلاف هذه الألفاظ وَ رُوِيَ فِي جُمْلَتِهِ‏ بَعْدَ حَمْدِ اللَّهِ وَ الثَّنَاءِ عَلَيْهِ وَ ذِكْرِ بَغْيِ الْقَوْمِ وَ نَكْثِهِمْ وَ حَاكَمْنَاهُمْ إِلَى اللَّهِ فَأَدَالَنَا عَلَيْهِمْ فَقُتِلَ طَلْحَةُ وَ الزُّبَيْرُ وَ قَدْ تَقَدَّمْتُ إِلَيْهِمَا بِالْمَعْذِرَةِ وَ أَبْلَغْتُ إِلَيْهِمَا فِي النَّصِيحَةِ وَ اسْتَشْهَدْتُ عَلَيْهِمَا صُلَحَاءَ الْأُمَّةِ فَمَا أَطَاعَا الْمُرْشِدِينَ وَ لَا أَجَابَا النَّاصِحِينَ

And it is reported by Abu Mikhnaf Lit Bin Yahya, this letter with different to these words, and he reported in its summary,

(At the end of Battle of Jamal, Imam Ali-asws Ibn Abi Talib-asws said) after praising Allah-azwj and the extolling upon Him-azwj, and mentioning rebellion of the people and their breaking (the allegiance): ‘And we leave their Judgment to Allah-azwj and have been just to them. Talha and Al-Zubeyr were killed, and I-asws had gone ahead to them both with the excusing and delivered to them in ‘النَّصِيحَةِ’ the advice and I-asws had made them witness upon reconciling the community. But they were neither obedient to rightful guidance nor did they answer as being advised.

وَ لَاذَ أَهْلُ الْبَغْيِ بِعَائِشَةَ فَقُتِلَ حَوْلَهَا عَالَمٌ جَمٌّ وَ ضَرَبَ اللَّهُ وَجْهَ بَقِيَّتِهِمْ فَأَدْبَرُوا فَمَا كَانَتْ نَاقَةُ الْحِجْرِ بِأَشْأَمَ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنْهَا عَلَى أَهْلِ ذَلِكَ الْمِصْرِ مَعَ مَا جَاءَتْ مِنَ الْحُوبِ الْكَبِيرِ فِي مَعْصِيَةِ رَبِّهَا وَ نَبِيِّهَا وَ اغْتِرَارِهَا فِي تَفْرِيقِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ‏ وَ سَفْكِ دِمَاءِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ بِلَا بَيِّنَةٍ وَ لَا مَعْذِرَةٍ وَ لَا حُجَّةٍ ظَاهِرَةٍ

And the people of rebellion anchored with Ayesha, and a great multitude were killed around her, and Allah-azwj Struck the face of their remainder and they turned back. So, how inauspicious was the taboo camel upon them, upon the people of that city, along with what she had come with from the grievous sin in disobedience to her Lord-azwj and her Prophet-saww, and her deception in separating the Muslims and spilling the blood of the Muslims without any proof, nor excuse, nor an apparent argument.

فَلَمَّا هَزَمَهُمُ اللَّهُ أَمَرْتُ أَنْ لَا يُتْبَعَ مُدْبِرٌ وَ لَا يُجْهَزَ عَلَى جَرِيحٍ وَ لَا تُكْشَفَ عَوْرَةٌ وَ لَا يُهْتَكَ سِتْرٌ وَ لَا يُدْخَلَ دَارٌ إِلَّا بِإِذْنٍ وَ آمَنْتُ النَّاسَ وَ قَدِ اسْتُشْهِدَ مِنَّا رِجَالٌ صَالِحُونَ ضَاعَفَ اللَّهُ حَسَنَاتِهِمْ وَ رَفَعَ دَرَجَاتِهِمْ وَ أَثَابَهُمْ ثَوَابَ الصَّادِقِينَ الصَّالِحِينَ الصَّابِرِينَ

When Allah-azwj Defeated them, I-asws ordered that neither should a fleer be pursued, nor any attack be upon an injured, nor any nakedness be uncovered, nor a veil be violated, nor a house be entered except by permission, and (that) the people are safe; and righteous men from us were martyred. May Allah-azwj Multiply their good deeds and Raise their ranks, and Reward them with Reward of the truthful, the righteous, the patient’.[1]
