أَقُولُ وَجَدْتُ فِي نُسْخَةٍ قَدِيمَةٍ مِنْ مُؤَلَّفَاتِ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِنَا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ مَا هَذَا لَفْظُهُ هَذَا الدُّعَاءُ رَوَاهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَابَوَيْهِ رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ عَنِ الْأَئِمَّةِ ع وَ قَالَ مَا دَعَوْتُ فِي أَمْرٍ إِلَّا رَأَيْتُ سُرْعَةَ الْإِجَابَةِ وَ هُوَ
I say, ‘I found in an ancient copy from compilations of one of our companions, may Allah-azwj be Pleased with them, this is what its wording of this supplication, reported by Muhammad Bin Babuwayh, may Allah-azwj Mercy him, from the Imams-asws, and he said, ‘I supplicated regarding a matter except I saw the swift response, and it is: –
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ وَ أَتَوَجَّهُ إِلَيْكَ بِنَبِيِّكَ نَبِيِّ الرَّحْمَةِ مُحَمَّدٍ ص يَا أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ يَا إِمَامَ الرَّحْمَةِ يَا سَيِّدَنَا وَ مَوْلَانَا إِنَّا تَوَجَّهْنَا وَ اسْتَشْفَعْنَا وَ تَوَسَّلْنَا بِكَ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَ قَدَّمْنَاكَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ حَاجَاتِنَا يَا وَجِيهاً عِنْدَ اللَّهِ اشْفَعْ لَنَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ
‘O Allah-azwj! I ask You-azwj and divert to You-azwj through Your-azwj Prophet-saww, the Prophet-saww of Mercy, Muhammad-saww! O Abu Al-Qasim-saww, O Rasool-Allah-saww! O the Imam of Mercy, O our chief and our Master! We divert, and seek intercession and advocacy through you-saww to Allah-azwj, and we forward you-saww in front of our needs! O honourable face in the Presence of Allah-azwj, intercede for us in the Presence of Allah-azwj!
يَا أَبَا الْحَسَنِ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَا عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ يَا حُجَّةَ اللَّهِ عَلَى خَلْقِهِ يَا سَيِّدَنَا وَ مَوْلَانَا إِنَّا تَوَجَّهْنَا وَ اسْتَشْفَعْنَا وَ تَوَسَّلْنَا بِكَ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَ قَدَّمْنَاكَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ حَاجَاتِنَا يَا وَجِيهاً عِنْدَ اللَّهِ اشْفَعْ لَنَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ
O Abu Al-Hassan-asws, O Amir Al-Momineen-asws, O Ali-asws Bin Abu Talib-asws! O Divine authority of Allah-azwj upon His-azwj creatures! O our chief and our Master! We divert, and seek intercession and advocacy through you-asws to Allah-azwj, and we forward you-asws in front of our needs! O honourable face in the Presence of Allah-azwj, intercede for us in the Presence of Allah-azwj!
يَا فَاطِمَةُ الزَّهْرَاءُ يَا بِنْتَ مُحَمَّدٍ يَا قُرَّةَ عَيْنِ الرَّسُولِ يَا سَيِّدَتَنَا وَ مَوْلَاتَنَا إِنَّا تَوَجَّهْنَا وَ اسْتَشْفَعْنَا وَ تَوَسَّلْنَا بِكَ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَ قَدَّمْنَاكَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ حَاجَاتِنَا يَا وَجِيهَةً عِنْدَ اللَّهِ اشْفَعِي لَنَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ
O (Syeda) Fatima Al-Zahra-asws, O daughter-asws of Muhammad-saww! O delight of eyes of the Rasool-saww, O our chieftess and our lady! We divert, and seek intercession and advocacy through you-asws to Allah-azwj, and we forward you-asws in front of our needs! O honourable face in the Presence of Allah-azwj, intercede for us in the Presence of Allah-azwj!
يَا أَبَا مُحَمَّدٍ يَا حَسَنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ أَيُّهَا الْمُجْتَبَى يَا ابْنَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ يَا حُجَّةَ اللَّهِ عَلَى خَلْقِهِ يَا سَيِّدَنَا وَ مَوْلَانَا إِنَّا تَوَجَّهْنَا وَ اسْتَشْفَعْنَا وَ تَوَسَّلْنَا بِكَ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَ قَدَّمْنَاكَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ حَاجَاتِنَا يَا وَجِيهاً عِنْدَ اللَّهِ اشْفَعْ لَنَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ
O Abu Muhammad-asws, O Hassan-asws Bin Ali-asws! O the selected, O son-asws of Rasool-Allah-saww! O Divine authority of Allah-azwj upon His-azwj creatures! O our chief and our Master! We divert, and seek intercession and advocacy through you-asws to Allah-azwj, and we forward you-asws in front of our needs! O honourable face in the Presence of Allah-azwj, intercede for us in the Presence of Allah-azwj!
يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يَا حُسَيْنَ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ أَيُّهَا الشَّهِيدُ يَا ابْنَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ يَا حُجَّةَ اللَّهِ عَلَى خَلْقِهِ يَا سَيِّدَنَا وَ مَوْلَانَا إِنَّا تَوَجَّهْنَا وَ اسْتَشْفَعْنَا وَ تَوَسَّلْنَا بِكَ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَ قَدَّمْنَاكَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ حَاجَاتِنَا يَا وَجِيهاً عِنْدَ اللَّهِ اشْفَعْ لَنَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ
O Abu Abdullah-asws, O Husayn-asws Bin Ali-asws! O the martyr, O son-asws of Rasool-Allah-saww! O Divine authority of Allah-azwj upon His-azwj creatures! O our chief and our Master! We divert, and seek intercession and advocacy through you-asws to Allah-azwj, and we forward you-asws in front of our needs! O honourable face in the Presence of Allah-azwj, intercede for us in the Presence of Allah-azwj!
يَا أَبَا الْحَسَنِ يَا عَلِيَّ بْنَ الْحُسَيْنِ يَا زَيْنَ الْعَابِدِينَ يَا ابْنَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ يَا حُجَّةَ اللَّهِ عَلَى خَلْقِهِ يَا سَيِّدَنَا وَ مَوْلَانَا إِنَّا تَوَجَّهْنَا وَ اسْتَشْفَعْنَا وَ تَوَسَّلْنَا بِكَ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَ قَدَّمْنَاكَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ حَاجَاتِنَا يَا وَجِيهاً عِنْدَ اللَّهِ اشْفَعْ لَنَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ
O Abu Al-Hassan-asws, O Ali-asws Bin Al-Husayn-asws, O Zayn Al-Abideen-asws, O son-asws of Rasool-Allah-saww! O Divine authority of Allah-azwj upon His-azwj creatures! O our chief and our Master! We divert, and seek intercession and advocacy through you-asws to Allah-azwj, and we forward you-asws in front of our needs! O honourable face in the Presence of Allah-azwj, intercede for us in the Presence of Allah-azwj!
يَا أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ يَا مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ أَيُّهَا الْبَاقِرُ يَا ابْنَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ يَا حُجَّةَ اللَّهِ عَلَى خَلْقِهِ يَا سَيِّدَنَا وَ مَوْلَانَا إِنَّا تَوَجَّهْنَا وَ اسْتَشْفَعْنَا وَ تَوَسَّلْنَا بِكَ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَ قَدَّمْنَاكَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ حَاجَاتِنَا يَا وَجِيهاً عِنْدَ اللَّهِ اشْفَعْ لَنَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ
O Abu Ja’far-asws, O Muhammad-asws Bin Ali-asws! O Al-Baqir-asws, O son-asws of Rasool-Allah-saww! O Divine authority of Allah-azwj upon His-azwj creatures! O our chief and our Master! We divert, and seek intercession and advocacy through you-asws to Allah-azwj, and we forward you-asws in front of our needs! O honourable face in the Presence of Allah-azwj, intercede for us in the Presence of Allah-azwj!
يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يَا جَعْفَرَ بْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ أَيُّهَا الصَّادِقُ يَا ابْنَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ يَا حُجَّةَ اللَّهِ عَلَى خَلْقِهِ يَا سَيِّدَنَا وَ مَوْلَانَا إِنَّا تَوَجَّهْنَا وَ اسْتَشْفَعْنَا وَ تَوَسَّلْنَا بِكَ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَ قَدَّمْنَاكَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ حَاجَاتِنَا يَا وَجِيهاً عِنْدَ اللَّهِ اشْفَعْ لَنَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ
O Abu Abdullah-asws, O Ja’far-asws Bin Muhammad-asws! O Al-Sadiq-asws, O son-asws of Rasool-Allah-saww! O Divine authority of Allah-azwj upon His-azwj creatures! O our chief and our Master! We divert, and seek intercession and advocacy through you-asws to Allah-azwj, and we forward you-asws in front of our needs! O honourable face in the Presence of Allah-azwj, intercede for us in the Presence of Allah-azwj!
يَا أَبَا الْحَسَنِ يَا مُوسَى بْنَ جَعْفَرٍ أَيُّهَا الْكَاظِمُ يَا ابْنَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ يَا حُجَّةَ اللَّهِ عَلَى خَلْقِهِ يَا سَيِّدَنَا وَ مَوْلَانَا إِنَّا تَوَجَّهْنَا وَ اسْتَشْفَعْنَا وَ تَوَسَّلْنَا بِكَ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَ قَدَّمْنَاكَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ حَاجَاتِنَا يَا وَجِيهاً عِنْدَ اللَّهِ اشْفَعْ لَنَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ
O Abu Al-Hassan-asws, O Musa-asws Bin Ja’far-asws! O Al-Kazim-asws, O son-asws of Rasool-Allah-saww! O Divine authority of Allah-azwj upon His-azwj creatures! O our chief and our Master! We divert, and seek intercession and advocacy through you-asws to Allah-azwj, and we forward you-asws in front of our needs! O honourable face in the Presence of Allah-azwj, intercede for us in the Presence of Allah-azwj!
يَا أَبَا الْحَسَنِ يَا عَلِيَّ بْنَ مُوسَى أَيُّهَا الرِّضَا يَا ابْنَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ يَا حُجَّةَ اللَّهِ عَلَىخَلْقِهِ يَا سَيِّدَنَا وَ مَوْلَانَا إِنَّا تَوَجَّهْنَا وَ اسْتَشْفَعْنَا وَ تَوَسَّلْنَا بِكَ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَ قَدَّمْنَاكَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ حَاجَاتِنَا يَا وَجِيهاً عِنْدَ اللَّهِ اشْفَعْ لَنَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ
O Abu Al-Hassan-asws, O Ali-asws Bin Musa-asws! O Al-Reza-asws, O son-asws of Rasool-Allah-saww! O Divine authority of Allah-azwj upon His-azwj creatures! O our chief and our Master! We divert, and seek intercession and advocacy through you-asws to Allah-azwj, and we forward you-asws in front of our needs! O honourable face in the Presence of Allah-azwj, intercede for us in the Presence of Allah-azwj!
يَا أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ يَا مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ أَيُّهَا الْجَوَادُ يَا ابْنَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ يَا حُجَّةَ اللَّهِ عَلَى خَلْقِهِ يَا سَيِّدَنَا وَ مَوْلَانَا إِنَّا تَوَجَّهْنَا وَ اسْتَشْفَعْنَا وَ تَوَسَّلْنَا بِكَ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَ قَدَّمْنَاكَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ حَاجَاتِنَا يَا وَجِيهاً عِنْدَ اللَّهِ اشْفَعْ لَنَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ
O Abu Ja’far-asws, O Muhammad-asws Bin Ali-asws! O Al-Jawad-asws, O son-asws of Rasool-Allah-saww! O Divine authority of Allah-azwj upon His-azwj creatures! O our chief and our Master! We divert, and seek intercession and advocacy through you-asws to Allah-azwj, and we forward you-asws in front of our needs! O honourable face in the Presence of Allah-azwj, intercede for us in the Presence of Allah-azwj!
يَا أَبَا الْحَسَنِ يَا عَلِيَّ بْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ أَيُّهَا الْهَادِي النَّقِيُّ يَا ابْنَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ يَا حُجَّةَ اللَّهِ عَلَى خَلْقِهِ يَا سَيِّدَنَا وَ مَوْلَانَا إِنَّا تَوَجَّهْنَا وَ اسْتَشْفَعْنَا وَ تَوَسَّلْنَا بِكَ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَ قَدَّمْنَاكَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ حَاجَاتِنَا يَا وَجِيهاً عِنْدَ اللَّهِ اشْفَعْ لَنَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ
O Abu Al-Hassan-asws, O Ali-asws Bin Muhammad-asws! O Al-Hadi-asws, the pure, O son-asws of Rasool-Allah-saww! O Divine authority of Allah-azwj upon His-azwj creatures! O our chief and our Master! We divert, and seek intercession and advocacy through you-asws to Allah-azwj, and we forward you-asws in front of our needs! O honourable face in the Presence of Allah-azwj, intercede for us in the Presence of Allah-azwj!
يَا أَبَا مُحَمَّدٍ يَا حَسَنَ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ أَيُّهَا الْمُجْتَبَى يَا ابْنَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ يَا حُجَّةَ اللَّهِ عَلَى خَلْقِهِ يَا سَيِّدَنَا وَ مَوْلَانَا إِنَّا تَوَجَّهْنَا وَ اسْتَشْفَعْنَا وَ تَوَسَّلْنَا بِكَ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَ قَدَّمْنَاكَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ حَاجَاتِنَا يَا وَجِيهاً عِنْدَ اللَّهِ اشْفَعْ لَنَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ
O Abu Muhammad-asws, O Hassan-asws Bin Ali-asws! O Al-Mujtaba-asws, O son-asws of Rasool-Allah-saww! O Divine authority of Allah-azwj upon His-azwj creatures! O our chief and our Master! We divert, and seek intercession and advocacy through you-asws to Allah-azwj, and we forward you-asws in front of our needs! O honourable face in the Presence of Allah-azwj, intercede for us in the Presence of Allah-azwj!
يَا وَصِيَّ الْحَسَنِ وَ الْخَلَفَ الْحُجَّةَ أَيُّهَا الْقَائِمُ الْمُنْتَظَرُ يَا ابْنَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ يَا حُجَّةَ اللَّهِ عَلَى خَلْقِهِ يَا سَيِّدَنَا وَ مَوْلَانَا إِنَّا تَوَجَّهْنَا وَ اسْتَشْفَعْنَا وَ تَوَسَّلْنَا بِكَ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَ قَدَّمْنَاكَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ حَاجَاتِنَا يَا وَجِيهاً عِنْدَ اللَّهِ اشْفَعْ لَنَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ
O successor-ajfj of Al-Hassan-asws, and the replacement Divine authority! O Al-Qaim-ajfj, the awaited, O son-ajfj of Rasool-Allah-saww! O Divine authority of Allah-azwj upon His-azwj creatures! O our chief and our Master! We divert, and seek intercession and advocacy through you-asws to Allah-azwj, and we forward you-asws in front of our needs! O honourable face in the Presence of Allah-azwj, intercede for us in the Presence of Allah-azwj!’
ثُمَّ يَسْأَلُ حَاجَتَهُ فَإِنَّهَا تُقْضَى إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى
Then he should ask his need, for it shall be fulfilled, if Allah-azwj the Exalted so Desires!’’[1]
ق، الكتاب العتيق الغرويّ رُوِيَ مِثْلُهُ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ رُوِيَ فِي الْكُلِّ بِصِيغَةِ الْمُتَكَلِّمِ وَحْدَهُ وَ زَادَ فِي آخِرِهِ يَا سَادَتِي وَ مَوَالِيَّ إِنِّي تَوَجَّهْتُ بِكُمْ أَئِمَّتِي وَ عُدَّتِي لِيَوْمِ فَقْرِي وَ حَاجَتِي إِلَى اللَّهِ وَ تَوَسَّلْتُ بِكُمْ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَ اسْتَشْفَعْتُ بِكُمْ إِلَى اللَّهِ
(The book) ‘Kitab Al-Ateeq’ of Al-Gharwy, similar to it is reported except that it is narrated entirely in the first-person form. At its end, it adds, ‘O my chief and my masters! I have diverted through you-asws my Imams-asws and my supports for a Day of my poverty and my need to Allah-azwj, and I seek your-asws advocacy to Allah-azwj and I seek intercession with Allah-azwj!
Intercede for me in the Presence of Allah-azwj and rescuing from my sins in the Presence of Allah-azwj, for you-asws are my means to Allah-azwj, and through your-asws love and by your-asws nearness I hope for salvation from Allah-azwj!
فَاشْفَعُوا لِي عِنْدَ اللَّهِ وَ اسْتَنْقِذُونِي مِنْ ذُنُوبِي عِنْدَ اللَّهِ فَإِنَّكُمْ وَسِيلَتِي إِلَى اللَّهِ وَ بِحُبِّكُمْ وَ بِقُرْبِكُمْ أَرْجُو نَجَاتاً مِنَ اللَّهِ فَكُونُوا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ رَجَائِي يَا سَادَتِي يَا أَوْلِيَاءَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ أَجْمَعِينَ وَ لَعَنَ اللَّهُ أَعْدَاءَ اللَّهِ ظَالِمِيهِمْ مِنَ الْأَوَّلِينَ وَ الْآخِرِينَ آمِينَ رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ
So, in the Presence of Allah-azwj, be my hop, O my chiefs, O guardians of Allah-azwj! May Allah-azwj Send Salawaat upon them-asws all, and may Allah-azwj Curse the enemies of Allah-azwj, the oppressors from the former ones and the latter ones! Ameen, Lord-azwj of the worlds!’’[2]
