المجالس للمفيد الْجِعَابِيُّ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَفَّانَ عَنْ بُرَيْدِ بْنِ هَارُونَ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ قَالَ: خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص آخِذاً بِيَدِ الْحَسَنِ وَ الْحُسَيْنِ ع فَقَالَ إِنَّ ابْنَيَّ هَذَيْنِ رَبَّيْتُهُمَا صَغِيرَيْنِ وَ دَعَوْتُ لَهُمَا كَبِيرَيْنِ وَ سَأَلْتُ اللَّهَ لَهُمَا ثَلَاثاً فَأَعْطَانِي اثْنَتَيْنِ وَ مَنَعَنِي وَاحِدَةً
(The book) ‘Al Majalis’ of Al Mufeed – Al Jiany, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Ziyad, from Al-Hassan Bin Ali Bin Affan, from Bureyd in Haroun, from Humeyd, from Jabir Bin Abdullah Al Ansari who said,
‘Rasool-Allah-saww came out to us holding the hand of Al-Hassan-asws and Al-Husayn-asws. He-saww said: ‘These two sons-asws of mine-saww, I-saww have nourished them-asws when young and supplicated for them-asws when (they-asws) get older, and I-saww have asked Allah-azwj three things for them-asws. He-saww Gave me-saww two and Refused me-saww one.
سَأَلْتُ اللَّهَ لَهُمَا أَنْ يَجْعَلَهُمَا طَاهِرَيْنِ مُطَهَّرَيْنِ زَكِيَّيْنِ فَأَجَابَنِي إِلَى ذَلِكَ وَ سَأَلْتُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَقِيَهُمَا وَ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمَا وَ شِيعَتَهُمَا النَّارَ فَأَعْطَانِي ذَلِكَ
I-saww asked Allah-azwj for them-asws that He-azwj Make them-asws to be clean, Purified, pure, and He-azwj Answered me-saww to that. And I-saww asked Allah-azwj to Save them-asws and their-asws offspring and their-asws Shias from the Fire, and He-azwj Gave me-saww that.
وَ سَأَلْتُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْمَعَ الْأُمَّةَ عَلَى مَحَبَّتِهِمَا فَقَالَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ إِنِّي قَضَيْتُ قَضَاءً وَ قَدَرْتُ قَدَراً وَ إِنَّ طَائِفَةً مِنْ أُمَّتِكَ سَتَفِي لَكَ بِذِمَّتِكَ فِي الْيَهُودِ وَ النَّصَارَى وَ الْمَجُوسِ وَ سَيَخْفِرُونَ ذِمَّتَكَ فِي وُلْدِكَ وَ إِنِّي أَوْجَبْتُ عَلَى نَفْسِي لِمَنْ فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ أَلَّا أُحِلَّهُ مَحَلَّ كَرَامَتِي وَ لَا أُسْكِنَهُ جَنَّتِي وَ لَا أَنْظُرَ إِلَيْهِ بِعَيْنِ رَحْمَتِي يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ
And I-saww asked Allah-azwj to Unite the community upon loving them-asws. He-azwj Said: ‘I-azwj have Decreed a Decree, and have Determined a Pre-determination that a group from your-saww ‘أُمَّتِكَ ’ community will not be meeting their obligations to you-saww among the Jews and the Christians and the Magians, and they would be shame-faced of your-saww duty regarding your-saww children, and I-azwj have Obligated upon Myself-azwj for the one who does that, that I-azwj will not Release My-azwj Benevolence, nor will I-azwj Settle him in My-azwj Paradise, nor will I-azwj be Looking at him with an eye of My-azwj Mercy on the Day of Qiyamah![1]
